Bieszczady Aviators’ Run – Summer 2027

Do you want to feel what it’s like to run where eagles circle the sky and nature still sets its own rules? Bieszczady Aviators’ Run – Summer in Ustjanowa Górna is a summer, cross-country edition of the iconic winter ski event, with an incredible aviation vibe! The race route leads along the slopes of the Żuków range – a place where, in the interwar period, a famous and the largest glider pilot school in Europe operated. Runners can expect demanding mountain paths, forest tracks, and breathtaking views. You can choose from excellent running distances (including the classic, demanding 10K) as well as a Nordic Walking march 🏅.

Ustjanowa Górna lies right next to Ustrzyki Dolne – the winter and summer capital of the Bieszczady Mountains. From here you can get to magical Lesko in just 20 minutes, to Sanok in 45 minutes, and to the shore of Lake Solina in under a quarter of an hour 🚗. Once you proudly touch down at the finish line with a medal around your neck, this charming corner of Poland will offer you a superb rest:

Gliding traditions with the family: Since it’s the Aviators’ Run, be sure to visit the nearby glider airfield in Bezmiechowa ✈️. Known as the “holy mountain of gliding,” it offers one of the most beautiful panoramas in the entire Bieszczady. Watching the silent machines take off from there is an unforgettable experience for children and adults alike.

A romantic cruise for two: Head with your better half to Lake Solina 🌊. A walk along the monumental dam or an exclusive gondola ride over the lake is the perfect, effortless way to spend an afternoon and walk off tired legs.

High-mountain calories: After Bieszczady climbs, your body will be demanding some solid fuel 🤔! Drop by a regional cottage or inn and order traditional hreczanyky (buckwheat groat cutlets) with sour cream and mushrooms, or fuczki – Bieszczady pancakes made from sauerkraut.
