Running in the Boot

Italy offers its visitors a plethora of destinations and landscapes, against a backdrop of gastronomy and heritage.

Italy 🇮🇹. It's hard to summarize Italy with just a few destinations, but let's give it a try. In the North, Milan remains the country's economic capital, while Turin is a charming city, far from the industrial image (hello Fiat) that we often have of it. We invite you to discover the quaint Turin cafes, steeped in the 19th century... A real must ! Rome, with its seven hills and wonders (Colosseum, Roman Forum, Pantheon, Vatican...) is beyond words. Venice and Naples are two seaside cities to visit, each leaving an indelible mark in your memory. We could mention Lecce and its colors, Palermo (Sicily) with its contrasts... And we almost forgot the open-air museum that is Florence or the beautiful Verona, the city of Romeo and Juliet ! Each region has its culinary specialties. We recommend the "carciofi alla giudia" in Rome (go for it with your eyes closed) and the best pizza on the globe da Michele in Naples. Beyond the cultural heritage, Italy has wonderful mountains in the north, the famous Dolomites ⛰. A part of the Alps worth discovering soon! The Apennine Mountains span all of Italy from north to south, offering a variety of landscapes to 20 Italian regions, especially the famous hills of Tuscany, and pristine nature for wolves 🐺 and bears 🐻!

Are you here to run the Boot? Let's turn to the race calendar in Italy then. All types of terrains and distances are on the agenda. Lovers of Trail Running and Road Racing will find what they're looking for. Starting with the most sought-after road races in Italy, let's begin with the Rome Marathon which, besides the mythical distance, also offers a race for everyone, the Fun Race, and a relay race, the Run4Rome. Since all roads also lead from Rome, the Roma-Ostia Half Marathon will take you to explore Ostia, a seaside resort beloved by Romans. The Venice Marathon, in turn, offers a chance to marvel at the alleyways, bridges, and many small squares of Venice. Want to get away from the cities, to breathe in forest air and pure oxygen? The Dolomiti Extreme Trail, like many nature trails in Italy, qualifies for the UTMB World Series. Also, take a glance at the Tor X program, unless you feel ready to tackle its various courses. Including a daunting 450 km self-supported... 😨 Oh, before we forget, did you know that vertical races originated in Italy? No? Well, sign up for the Bei K3 if you're up for a challenge, specifically tackling the Rochemelon, a massif right in the heart of Piedmont.

Mamma mia! Life is about choices, they said...

Should it rain or snow
