Sanremo Marathon
Are you ready for the Sanremo Marathon? Then andiamo! ๐ค It is in Italy ๐ฎ๐น, in Sanremo, in the heart of Liguria, that you will start this race full speed ๐. An exceptional setting awaits you on the edge of the Ligurian Sea ๐ and on the old railway line ! ๐ For its new edition, 5 race distances will be offered to you: 10 km, 21 km and 42 km, a "Family Run" ๐ช of 2.5 km (open to adults and children) and a 5 km accessible to all. Enough to enjoy a big party organized ๐ around sports ๐ and tourism ๐งณ.
The course of the Sanremo Marathon is extremely scenic as it runs along the path of the old railway and runs along the sea for its entire distance ๐ฅฐ. You will have the chance to enjoy a very fast route, as it stretches straight with almost no elevation (enough to beat your personal record โ). The only surprise guest (not welcome ๐ฅ) might be the wind ๐ฌ. In any case, the straight course of the marathon and its "out-and-back" format ๐ will allow you to reach speed peaks โก๏ธ that even the sea breeze wouldn't be able to stop!
The course will take the bike path ๐ด of the coastal park of the Riviera of Flowers ๐ธ. It is one of the emblematic places of the region: it stretches along the Italian coast from Ventimiglia to Sanremo. Nicknamed "Land of Colors" ๐ (and it will give you some during the race), Sanremo is the capital with its flower gardens ๐, rich in exotic species ๐ด and its many horticultural farms ๐ชด. In 2000, the Riviera of Flowers saw an ambitious project ๐ง: the elevation of the railway ๐ค and doubling of the train tracks. This freed up a highly valuable area, directly adjacent to the sea ๐ . Institutions decided to seize this incredible opportunity to transform the disused old railway line into a park natural coastal park ๐ณ, crossed by a 24 km long bike path... And it became the marathon course! ๐
But that's not all! You will discover other features of the Italian coast: the villages of Arma di Taggia, Riva Ligure, Santo Stefano al Mare, and Ospedaletti (and gli spaghetti... ๐ Ah no, it's not yet time to talk about that ๐ ). Thanks to its multiple events and distances suitable for all runner profiles, this event is becoming more and more significant and attracts more and more families and running enthusiasts ๐. Talking of spaghetti, you would do well to take advantage of this little weekend in the land of Dante to fill up on good things! ๐ It will be an opportunity to escape the daily routine: pasta, pizza, tiramisu and more ๐ฌ. We provide a non-exhaustive list to whet your appetite ๐คค, as there is no shortage of typical Sanremo dishes! As a coastal city, there are many seafood products ๐ in its cuisine: calamari ๐ฆ, octopus ๐, anchovies... We hope you like fish! You can thus enjoy a sardenaira, the old pizza ๐ of Sanremo, accompanied by a small glass of Vermentino ๐ท.
The Sanremo Marathon (not without Nemo ๐ชธ) has all the qualities required to give you an experience comparable to the beauty of a work by Michelangelo! ๐ผ
