No, no chance you're here to read up about the incredible ๐, massive ๐, mythical ๐, and challenging KAILAS FUGA Dolomiti Extreme Trailโฆ ๐ Why? Well, because you need to be really motivated to want to participate in one of the other distances offered: 11 km, 22 km, 35 km, 55 km, 72 km, and 103 km. Okay, we'll give it to you, it's not just about the giants ๐๏ธโโ๏ธ, but also charming little distances! ๐ค Now, the question is which one you'll prefer for visiting the Dolomites ๐๏ธ. Yes! It's indeed at Forno Di Zoldo, in Veneto, in Northern Italy ๐ฎ๐น where you'll have the joy of running. What more to say? Bellissimo! ๐ค
Since its first edition in 2013 ๐, the Dolomiti Extreme Trail, has significantly evolved to become a key race in the country's north. High mountain lovers will be delighted ๐ฅฐ to participate in this trail in the full wilderness ๐ฟ, where the courses have been masterfully designed ๐งโ๐ซ. However, this beauty comes at a cost: the routes are full of elevation and extremely technical ๐ฎโ๐จ. For instance, the 103 km involves 6,400 mD+ and will take you across the summits forming the natural scenery of the Val di Zoldo. The same goes for the 72 km (4,750 mD+) and the 55 km (3,600 mD+), which are less long but equally demanding and will already require considerable trail experience ๐จโ๐ฆณ. Fortunately, there are also more accessible distances! You can, therefore, also partake in the 35 km (2,100 mD+), 22 km (1,120 mD+) or the 11 km (570 mD+). You're now reassured! ๐ค
But as hard work deserves pay ๐ฐ, know that your efforts will be rewarded! Indeed, there's a a genuine array of prizes waiting for you to push yourself ๐โโ๏ธ. The 22 km, 55 km, 72 km, and 103 km will respectively earn you 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 ITRA points. Not too shabby! ๐ But wait, there's more for the competitor in you since you'll also get 20K, 50K, and 100K on the UTMB qualifiers index! ๐ If the competition didn't take place under the pleasant weather of June โ๏ธ, one might even think it's Christmas ๐. Moreover, speaking of gifts ๐, note that winners ๐ of the longest distance - the 103 km - will also get a complete package to participate in the Saucony El Cruce. This challenge, which spans the Andes, between Argentina ๐ฆ๐ท and Chile ๐จ๐ฑ, is a 100 km excursion ๐ฎ over three days in the South American nature ๐ฆ. Let's hope they understand a bit of Italian there! ๐ Lastly, the races are qualifiers for the championship Alpe Adria Trail Cup, which grants a cash prize ๐ต to the top three men and women from both existing categories: ยซ Trail ยป (which includes the DXT 22k and 55k routes) and ยซ Ultra ยป (which includes the DXT 72k and 103k) ๐ค.
ยซ What's so special about these races? ยป, you wonder ๐ค. We answer: several charming assets. First off, obviously, they take place in the high mountains of the Dolomites, a region declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Thus, they will allow you to traverse the trails and the vast pine forests ๐ฒ that make up the area. Remaining untouched by mass tourism, the Val di Zoldo has remained wild ๐ป and thus offers an untouched course, through uncontaminated woods ๐ชต, incomparable rock formations, and vast screes ๐งโโ๏ธ. A completely natural race awaits you, full of little streams ๐ but also of steep inclines ๐. Last but not least: the 72 km and 103 km are night races ๐ that will allow you to observe these spaces from a unique perspective and grant aย magic and surreal atmosphere to your trail.

Imagine yourself walking into a Roman arena... You are there, confident, prepared, and ready to face the gladiator coming your way... โ๏ธ When suddenly, you see your opponent approaching! It's a colossus ๐๏ธโโ๏ธ. What to do? Well, you'd better ask yourself that question, because that's exactly what you're going to experience when you find yourself at Forno Di Zoldo, at 850 m above sea level, on the starting line of the "DXT 103K" and its 6,400 mD+ ๐.
Indeed, you will have little respite: 2 small km of warm-up on flat ground ๐ before starting your first steep climb ๐ which crosses the wildest and most wooded part of the course. Prepare yourself for difficult passages between mountain pines and gravel towards Sturlon di Cornรฌa (1,828 m) up to the large grassy basin of Casera Cornigia at km 13. Oh yes! Here you are in the Dolomites! After about 15 km, you will reach the 2,000 m of Forcella Piccola, the entrance to the Dolomiti Bellunesi National Park. Remember to bring suitable shoes due to the ground quality, and prepare mentally: this is only the beginning! ๐ You will then chain descents and ascents towards the Pramperet refuge, and then climb up to the ruins of the fort at Moschesin pass at 1,950 m (km 18.5) before descending to the Pramper mountain refuge (21st km). You will continue under the slopes of San Sebastiano on white roads and single tracks up to the first time gate at Passo Duran (32nd km). It's time to stand firm on your feet and conserve your efforts!
Right after that, the difficulties begin! The most demanding part of the course starts with a formidable climb up to Bivacco Grisetti (2,050 m above sea level) ๐ฅ. What a gift! ๐ A difficult ascent awaits you, followed by an equally demanding descent towards the refreshment station at Malga Grava (39th km). Phew, that should feel good! ๐ฎโ๐จ The route then crosses the slopes of Monte Civetta before diving towards the refreshment station at Palanche (km 44), then tackling a tough 3 km climb up to Malga Pioda (km 47, refreshment). You will continue on meadows and grassy slopes towards another refreshment station above 2,000 m, the Refuge Belvedere (51st km), before arriving at the life base at Passo Staulanza, the second time gate at 58th km ๐.
Good! More than half of the work is done! We don't know about you, but we are already exhausted! ๐ Now the course becomes hilly, sometimes muddy, and runs at the base of the Mont Pelmo massif up to Zoppรจ di Cadore, a reputed refreshment and time gate at km 69 ๐. Obviously, don't expect it to be flat either! You would have had to go to Amsterdam for that, not in the Italian Alps. You will then continue on about 5 km of easy section up to the refreshment station at the Talamini refuge, before tackling the forest climb up to the summit of Mont Rite, at 2,180 m elevation ๐ฎ (80th km).
Quick descent (again!) towards the refreshment station at Forcella Cibiana (84th km), last time gate, to then tackle... the last part of the course with the infamously renowned Calada descent! ๐ฌ It must be approached with great caution, according to the organizers, as its profile is challenging: 1,000 mD- over approximately 1.5 km ๐. You will then climb back up to the Bosconero refuge (90th km). Phew! This trail is like real roller coasters! ๐ข Fortunately, the last part of the course is on a gentler path ๐ฑ. You will finish with a 3 km descent โ, then a hilly trail, which concludes with the last 2 km on asphalt through the villages of Pra, Sommariva, and Campo ๐ . The total positive elevation gain? About 6,400 m. Respect! ๐
Get ready for the second longest distance of the Dolomiti Extreme Trail! At 72 km long and with 4,750 mD+, it will put you to the test ๐ช. Just like for the 103 km trail, you will start from Forno Di Zoldo.
The first 2 km will take you to the Pratoront plain ๐ before reaching Pralongo at 1,000 m of altitude (km 3). Near the church, you will take the ascending forest-pastoral road that leads to the Pian alpine pasture, where you will join the route of the 103K, then Lake Vach (km 6). You will continue below the slopes of San Sebastiano on single track until the first refreshment at Passo Duran (11th km). Enjoy this brief moment of respite, because after that... ๐
This is where it gets seriously tough ! The most demanding part of the route will begin with the formidable climb to Bivacco Grisetti (2,050 m of altitude) ๐ฅ. Nice appetizer, right? ๐ A challenging ascent awaits you, followed by a descent equally treacherous to the refreshment at Malga Grava (km 18). You will then cross the base of Monte Civetta before descending to the refreshment at Palanche (km 23), then tackle a steep climb of about 3 km to Malga Pioda (refreshment). You will continue on meadows and slopes to another refreshment above 2,000 m, the Belvedere Refuge (km 30), before reaching the aid station at Passo Staulanza at the 37th km ๐. Take a deep breath, you deserve it!
Come on, hang in there, you're halfway ! ๐ฏ We don't know about you, but we already need a nap! ๐ Now, the route becomes hilly, sometimes muddy (because why make it easy?), and leads to the base of the Mont Pelmo massif up to Zoppรจ di Cadore, a known refreshment point at km 48 ๐. You will then follow about 5 km of easy section (well, "easy" by the standards of this trail ๐) to the refreshment at refuge Talamini, before tackling the forest climb to the summit of Mont Rite, at 2,180 m of altitude ๐ฎ (km 59).
And now, it's time for the final rollercoaster ! ๐ข The trail dives towards the refreshment at Forcella Cibiana (km 63) before an undulating and breathtaking crossing below Spiz de San Piero. From there, the descent leads to Casera del Castelin, where the course rejoins the 103K, to descend once more along a steep forest road ๐. Getting used to the ups and downs by now, aren't you? The relief is finally coming ! ๐ The grand finale takes place with the last 2 km on asphalt ๐ฑ, guiding the runners through the charming villages of Pra, Sommariva and Campo to the finish line ๐ . The total positive elevation? About 4,750 m. Hats off to you, artist! ๐ฉโจ
For this 55 km through the Dolomites, you will have to face the 3,600 mD+.
You will start at the DXT Village in Forno Di Zoldo ๐ฉ and run for 2 km to the Pratoront plain ๐ณ. You will already be at 1,000 m elevation when you reach Pralongo (km 3)! ๐ Thanks to the forest and pastoral road that runs alongside the village, you will climb to the lake of Vach (km 6) before continuing under the slopes of San Sebastiano on a single track to Passo Duran (km 11).
A technical section will then begin with the difficult ascent ๐ to Bivacco Grisetti (2,050 m elevation) and the descent ๐ to the refreshment point at Malga Grava (km 18). After crossing the scree of Monte Civetta, you will descend to the refreshment point at Palanche (km 23) ๐ฅค. You will enjoy another refreshment point after a steep climb to Malga Pioda (km 27) before wandering through meadows and grassy slopes to another refreshment point, the rifugio Belvedere (km 30) and the life base at Passo Staulanza (km 37) ๐.
You will head on a rolling course to the foot of the Pelmo mountain massif and the refreshment point Passo Tamai (km 44) ๐ด. From there, two short but challenging ascents will take you to mont Punta (1,950 m elevation), where you will have a spectacular panoramic view, overlooking all the Dolomites of Zoldo. A steady 6 km descent will bring you to Casal. The last 2 km pass through the villages of Bragarezza, Pra, Sommariva and Campo and finally arrive at Forno ๐.
Do you want to tackle the 35 km and its 2,100m D+ ? ๐
You will start at the DXT Village in Forno Di Zoldo, then head towards Pralongo (km 3) ๐. For 10 km, you will climb the steep mountain trails. You will reach the small village of Dont, and then head back into nature for 2 km before arriving in Fusine. You will be at the 17th km. You will then climb for 5 km to the village of I Lac at 1,980 m altitude at the foot of Mount Pelmo! ๐ป From there, you will join the 55 km route and descend to Passo Tamai at km 25.
It's not over yet, there will also be two short (but steep) climbs to reach Mount Ponta at 1,953 m altitude. ๐ช. You will take small singles to run the last km, passing through Bragarezza before descending towards the finish line at the DXT Village in Forno Di Zoldo! ๐
For this half-marathon of the DXT, you'll start from the village of Forno ๐ฉ. Expect to tackle 1,120 mD+ and 22 km of distance.
At the beginning, you'll run for 2 km to the Pratoront plain ๐ณ. You will already be at 1,000 m altitude when you reach Pralongo (km 3)! ๐ Thanks to the forestry and pastoral road that runs close to the village, you will climb up to Vach Lake (km 6). A steep path up to the scree of Vant dei Gravinai and the saddle of Val Barance will take you to 1,670 m altitude (km 9).
From there, the descent leading to the refreshment at Dont (km 13) will begin. You'll climb back up to Villa, then, via a hilly forest-pastoral road, to Astragal (km 17). After a short climb and then a descent, you'll be at Casal.
The last 2 km on asphalt ๐ฃ๏ธ pass through the villages of Bragarezza, Pra, Sommariva and Campo and finally arrive at Forno ๐.
The shortest distance of the competition will still give your legs a workout! ๐ฆต With 570 m of elevation gain in just 11 km, it will test your abilities ๐.
You will start from the DXT Village in Forno, at an altitude of 850 m. At the beginning, you'll run for 2 km until you reach the Pratoront plain ๐ณ. You will already be at 1,000 m altitude when you arrive at Pralongo (km 4)! ๐ From there, the descent begins leading to the refreshment station at Dont (6th km). Yes, a medical certificate is required to start the Dolomiti Extreme Trail. It must be dated within one year and state that there are no contraindications to competing in sport, Athletics in competition, or competitive running.
No medical certificates are necessary to participate in non-competitive races and the children's race.
The competition takes place under semi-self-sufficiency conditions.
