Bonn Triathlon 2027

Set your sights on the former capital of West Germany, the majestic city of Bonn, in North Rhine-Westphalia 🇩🇪. The profile of this race is a mix of pure speed in the water and brutality in the saddle. Your body will have to digest the steep cycling gradients if you hope to still have legs left for the run along the riverbanks! ⏱️

The immersion begins in a totally crazy and unforgettable way: the start is given from the deck of a ferry, from where you dive straight into the waters of the Rhine. Carried by a very strong downstream current, you’ll feel like you’re swimming at the speed of a speedboat. The asphalt then takes over to propel you into a breathtaking setting: the Siebengebirge mountain range (the Seven Mountains). Your effort will take you onto steep roads, climbing through dense forests overlooked by the ruins of legendary castles, like Drachenfels. The return to civilization comes during the run, contested as ultra-fast out-and-backs that are completely flat along the magnificent Rhine promenade (Rheinpromenade) ⛰️.

Spectators, tourists, and families flock in huge numbers to the riverbanks and along the promenade’s terraces to cheer you on with exceptional fervor. An atmosphere of pure release welcomes you under the finish arch by the water, where the relief of being done with the cycling roller coaster instantly gives way to the pride of having conquered the Rhine 🏅.

Keep one last hint of appetite to honor the generous Rhineland gastronomy once your trisuit is hung out to dry. Carry your tired body to a typical downtown brewery (Brauhaus) to devour a traditional Rheinischer Sauerbraten. Above all, celebrate your monumental feat by toasting with an unmissable Bönnsch, the excellent local unfiltered blond beer, traditionally served in its asymmetrical curved glass shaped to fit the hand.
