Time for an absolute classic and one of the most iconic ultramarathon events in the Polish mountains 💪! The Circuit Around the Jelenia Góra Valley is an extreme challenge for true tough guys who want to test the limits of their endurance. Participants face a legendary, brutal distance of around 140 km, running through four Sudeten ranges: Karkonosze, Rudawy Janowickie, Góry Kaczawskie and Góry Izerskie ⏱️. In addition to the main distance for the most seasoned veterans, a slightly shorter—but still incredibly demanding—Half Circuit is also organized, covering about 70 km.
The heart of the event is Jelenia Góra, which serves as a brilliant base. After such a gigantic effort and some well-earned rest, it’s worth staying in the region longer to discover the magic of Lower Silesia together with family or your other half 🥇:
Relax in Cieplice-Zdrój – the spa district of Jelenia Góra offers Termy Cieplickie, where hot thermal waters will work wonders for your tired muscles 🌊.
Visit the monumental Chojnik Castle – set atop a rocky hill, the castle is a great destination for a leisurely walk, offering a brilliant panorama of the Karkonosze 🏰.
See the unique Wang Temple in Karpacz – this extraordinary wooden church gem of 12th-century Scandinavian architecture is just a 20-minute drive from Jelenia Góra 🪵.
Try Karkonosze-style Izera dumplings – traditional, large potato dumplings with a meat or mushroom filling, served with a thick sauce, will quickly replenish the thousands of calories burned on the route 🍽️.
Jelenia Góra is a charming city surrounded by mountains, fantastically well connected with the rest of the country. In just over an hour by car, you can get from here to Wrocław or Wałbrzych, making this trip an ideal plan for an extended mountain weekend. Pack your backpack, get your head in the game, and line up at the start of this incredible adventure 👟!
