Greetings, dear night owl! 👋 It’s time to pull on your glow-in-the-dark sneakers 👟 and come prance under the stars in the charming village of Savigny-le-Sec! 🌟
Head to the Côte-d'Or 🍷 for this Corrida des Lampions, which will turn the village’s usually quiet streets into a night race track! In mid-December, when winter settles in and the evenings are chilly, it’s the perfect time to warm up your calves by running under the glow of lanterns 🏮. No time to hibernate in front of Netflix 📺, because this night race will awaken your snow-runner side! ❄️
This 100% Burgundian race offers a main distance that will get your legs burning: the Corrida des Lampions of 9.08 km! You’ll complete 4 loops of 2,270 m each through the village streets 🔁. The route will wind around the Savigny-le-Sec hall (near the town hall), where you’ll run in circles like a hamster in its wheel... but in a glamorous nighttime version! 🐹 The course takes place entirely on pavement in the village streets, with reflective tape along the whole route 🚧. Good news for your joints: flat and even terrain! The only challenge will be not getting lost in your thoughts while looping these 4 laps... Or not losing your costume! 🧑🎄 Yes, you read that right. The Corrida des Lampions is above all a friendly race. Wearing a costume will give you an extra chance to be rewarded while turning heads! 😉 You’ll truly be the star you think you are 🙌.
Two special races have also been designed specifically for the youngest warriors! 💪 First up, the baby athletics, discovery and under-10s 🐣 (born between 2016 and 2021) will set off in two waves for a first taste of night running 🌙. The U14 and U16 🧒 (born between 2012 and 2015) will take on a full 2,270 m loop, headlamp on their heads. A real “big kids” race for these teens who are starting to have real runner’s legs! 🦵 All young participants will leave with a reward (because we don’t make kids run in the cold for nothing!), and the U14/U16s will get real podiums with the top 3 in each girls’ and boys’ category. All registrations for the children’s races will be done on site on race day📍. Enough to spark vocations for future night champions! 🏆
Mission accomplished under the lanterns? 🏮 Head to the refreshment station at the finish to recover and enjoy the friendly atmosphere! The perfect moment to chat with other runners before setting off to explore the charms of the Burgundy region. You can explore the vineyards of Côte-d'Or 🍇 (after effort comes comfort! 😜), visit the surrounding medieval villages with their half-timbered houses 🏘️, or discover the heritage of Dijon and its historic monuments 🏛️. Don’t forget to bring back a jar of mustard! And above all, treat yourself to local specialties: a good Burgundy beef stew 🥩, deliciously creamy Chaource cheese 🧀, and Burgundy snails for the more adventurous 🐌. All washed down with an excellent Burgundy wine 🍷 of course!
Savigny better watch out—the runners are coming! ⚡
