Give me a five! ✋
Get ready for an event that will give you chills (and not because of the November weather 🥶). Welcome to Give me FIV, the very first race in France dedicated to Medically Assisted Reproduction (ART). It takes place at Parc de Parilly, between Vénissieux and Bron, in the metropolitan area of Lyon, in the region of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes ⛰️. It's much more than a competition, it’s an unprecedented movement to break taboos and run for those fighting to give life 👶. But what does FIV mean? In Vitro Fertilization! 🤓 You probably guessed it, it’s a medically assisted reproduction technique 🤰. Now that you know everything, we're taking you along for this unique event.
Here, every step has a concrete impact: for every solo registration, 5 € are donated to the HCL Foundation (Hospices Civils de Lyon), and for each duo, it’s 12 € that directly go to support concrete projects of the HFME's reproductive department 👏. For this grand debut, the program is designed to accommodate everyone, regardless of their fitness level or stage in the process 🫀. The routes wind through the wooded paths of Parc de Parilly, offering a peaceful and green setting for this endurance solidarity test 🌳. You have the choice to embark Solo, to carry your own message, or Duo, to share this moment with a friend, a close one or your partner 🤝. The symbolism is strong: like in ART, the race is a journey of patience, but here, we cross the finish line together to break the silence and breathe deeply 🌬️. Whether you are here to perform or for a symbolic walk, the important thing is to proudly sport the colors of this fight for life 🌈.
Once you cross the finish line and the emotions settle, enjoy being in Lyon for some well-deserved recovery! Jump on the metro to Vieux Lyon to get lost in the traboules and admire the Renaissance architecture 🏰. To refuel (because running for life builds an appetite! 😋), head to a genuine Bouchon Lyonnais to indulge in a local specialty or a praline tart 🍽️. If you still have some energy, a stroll along the Berges du Rhône or a climb to Fourvière for a breathtaking view of the City of Lights will complete your day beautifully 🌃.
So, ready to high five with research? 💪
Message from the organizer:
Give me FIV was born out of an observation: ART (Assisted Reproductive Technology) is too often told only through trials and difficulties. What if we changed the perspective? ART also involves women, men, and couples who bravely move forward to give life. It involves supportive networks. Committed professionals. Dynamics, hopes, victories — big and small. With Give me FIV, we want to break taboos and bring a more colorful, lively, and profoundly kind perspective on these journeys. Why “Give me FIV”? Because it’s much more than a play on words. It’s a high five. A show of support. A relay hand-off. A collective celebration. A simple gesture saying: we move forward together. Welcome to the movement.
10 km, it's the distance of great champions 🏆.
On this course, you'll need to keep pushing constantly. The course is expected to be winding with many turns. Luckily for you, the elevation is almost nonexistent, allowing you to still inject some intensity 🔥. From north to south of the Parc de Parilly, you'll know the area like the back of your hand. In the month of November, a true social and vegetal break awaits you just a few kilometers from Lyon.
One last piece of advice: save a little energy for the last kilometers, just to avoid hitting the infamous wall at km 7 😅.
On this course, you will only explore the east part of the Parc de Parilly 🔍. For more discovery, you will need to register for the 10 km 😎.
The start will be on the Boulevard de la Jeunesse, next to the sports field 🌳. But don't let yourself be caught up in nostalgia and swings ❌, you have a cause to support with your legs 🦵. Once the boulevard is behind you, you will head towards the park's small pond before crossing the natural area towards the Hippodrome 🐎. To finish, you will skim the park's athletics track before taking off on a long straight line of 500 m ➡️.
