International Goral Marathon 2026

Get ready for one of the most scenic yet demanding mountain runs in Poland. International Goral Marathon in Istebna isn’t an ordinary race – it’s an expedition through the heart of the Silesian Beskids, where national borders blur along the ridgelines, and the only constants are the incredible views and your battle with the climbs.

The course often leads through the territories of three countries: Poland, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia (hence the proximity of the famous tri-border point). Technical descents await you, steep ascents to peaks such as Złoty Groń and Ochodzita, as well as the hospitality for which the highlanders of the Beskid Triple Village (Istebna, Jaworzynka, Koniaków) are famous.

The tri-border point in Jaworzynka: A place where the borders of Poland, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia meet. You can stand there with one foot in each of these countries – a perfect spot for a souvenir photo with your medal 🇵🇱🇨🇿🇸🇰.

Regional Product Center in Koniaków: Since you’re right next door, you have to see the famous Koniaków lace. It’s UNESCO heritage that impresses even the toughest running hardmen 🧶.

Jerzy Kukuczka Memorial Room: Istebna is home to the family house of Poland’s most outstanding Himalayan mountaineer. A visit here is a powerful dose of inspiration – next to his achievements, a mountain marathon feels like just a small walk 🧗‍♂️.

Olza Water Park in Zagroń: Your legs will thank you for a visit to the local pools and jacuzzi. It’s the best way to recover after Beskid elevation gain 🏊‍♂️.

Karczma Po Zbóju or Karczma Olza: Look for traditional kwaśnica, highlander-style potato pancakes (made from grated potatoes, baked on a sheet – the so-called placki na blachach) or juicy pork neck. Highland cuisine is rocket fuel for a runner 🍲.
