Imagine running a certain distance each day in trail, then discovering the local culture. Combining the two is possible! ๐ฅณ 9 days of travel with 5 days of racing, are you tempted? ๐ค
Today, we offer you this format in the beautiful country of Senegal ๐ธ๐ณ. Head south for the Kadiouk Trail Casamanca ๐. If you don't know what to do in the first half of November, we're always there to inspire you! ๐ก Suffice to say that even at that time, it's hot there ๐ฅต. So, equip yourself with SPF 50 sunscreen to avoid sunburn, your best sunglasses ๐ถ๏ธ, your favorite trail shoes, and embark on an unmatched adventure โ๏ธ.
The Kadiouk Trail Casamanca is the 8th addition to the Exaequo Voyages family. We're talking about the organizers of Kimbia Kenya, the Cabo Verde Ribeira Trail or the Norway Fjord Trail (among others). After a quick stop in Dakar for the night ๐, you will discover Ziguinchor and its palm trees ๐ด, the regional capital, then the small village ๐๏ธ of Koubalang. This is where your journey will truly begin. Two distances are available: a 50 km, with 10 km to be covered each day for 5 days. For the more seasoned, a 100 km, i.e., 20 km per day. No time to fool around! ๐
The region of Casamance is rich in unique ecosystems and people with captivating legends and stories ๐. You'll meet the locals, discover their culture, their traditions, and share unforgettable moments with them. We guarantee it! ๐ But that's not all: local populations often suffer from inequalities (economic, educational, climate, migratory). Behind your race lies a true solidarity project โ. By participating in this trip ๐งณ, you directly support the actions of the association Futur au Prรฉsent, which supports these communities. The people you'll meet are those who will benefit from these social programs. You're running for the good cause, and that, that's priceless ๐ซ.
You got it; during this journey, you'll have the opportunity to meet many local populations ๐๏ธ. You'll cross the villages of Oussouye and Mlomp, then board a pirogue ๐ฃ to the island of Nioumoune ๐๏ธ. In modern-day Robinson Crusoe mode (or almost)! You'll also traverse the famous "bolongs", characteristic sea arms of Senegal. But it doesn't stop there โ. You'll head towards Hitou, a village of traditions and legends, before reaching Cachouane, where you'll rest your eyes ๐๏ธ. The next day, head for Djembering and the beaches ๐๏ธ of Cap Skirring to end your trail beautifully ๐. During your race, take the time to open your eyes ๐ and enjoy the postcard landscapes this beautiful country has to offer ๐. You'll run by rice fields, beaches, mangroves, baobabs, and even "fromagers trees." A small note โ ๏ธ: don't expect to find camembert ๐ง in the middle of nowhereโฆ The fromagers tree is a giant tree ๐ณ that can reach 40 m high! However, you won't be alone: expect to receive spectators. Children from the villages will likely come to cheer you on. A true running star ๐.
So, are you ready for the adventure? ๐บ๏ธ
