Imagine running a certain distance every day in trail, then discovering local culture. Combining the two is possible! ๐ฅณ 8 days of travel including 5 of racing, are you interested? ๐ค
Today, we offer you this format in the beautiful country of Senegal ๐ธ๐ณ. Head south for the Kadiouk Trail Casamanca ๐. If you don't know what to do in late November to early December, we're always here to inspire you! ๐ก Even during this period, it's warm there ๐ฅต. So, equip yourself with SPF 50 sunscreen to avoid getting burned, your best sunglasses ๐ถ๏ธ, your favorite trail shoes and embark on an unparalleled adventure โ๏ธ.
The Kadiouk Trail Casamanca is the 8th child of the Exaequo Voyages family. We're talking about the organizers of the Kimbia Kenya, the Cabo Verde Ribeira Trail or the Norway Fjord Trail (among others). After a quick stop in Dakar for the night ๐, you'll discover Ziguinchor and its palm trees ๐ด, the regional capital, then the small village ๐๏ธ of Koubalang. That's where your journey truly begins. Two distances are available: a 50 km, with 10 km to cover each day for 5 days. For the more seasoned, a 100 km, or 20 km per day. No time to waste! ๐
Stage 1 crosses bush areas before reaching the village of Agnack. On the second day, you run among giant baobabs and endless rice fields ๐. The highlight is the arrival at the Casamance riverbank, a magnificent spot where you might see manatees if you're lucky ๐ฆญ. Hold tight for the third stage on Niomoune Island. It's the wild heart of the raid, where you truly feel far from everything ๐. Stage 4: Hitou. It's the "end of the world" stage. After a transfer by pirogue ๐ฃ, you embark on a unique route following an immersion in this village with animist traditions ๐ฑ. You'll then head to Cachouane, where you'll rest your eyes ๐๏ธ. From the calm of Cachouane, you head by tuk-tuk to the buzz of Djembering for the 5th and final stage. The end of the course takes place on the vast beach of Cap Skirring ๐๏ธ. During your race, take the time to open your eyes ๐ and enjoy the postcard landscapes this beautiful country has to offer ๐. You'll pass by rice fields, beaches, mangroves, baobabs, and even "ceibas". Quick note โ ๏ธ: don't expect to find a camembert ๐ง in the middle of nowhereโฆ A ceiba is a giant tree ๐ณ that can reach 40 m tall! However, you won't be alone: expect to receive spectators. Village children will likely cheer you on. You'll be a real running star ๐.
The region of Casamance is full of unique ecosystems and peoples with legends and stories ๐ more captivating than one another. You'll meet the locals, discover their culture, their traditions, and share unforgettable moments with them. We guarantee it! ๐ But that's not all: local populations are often victims of inequalities (economic, educational, climate, migratory). Behind your race lies a genuine solidarity project โ. By participating in this journey ๐งณ, you directly support the actions of the Futur au Prรฉsent association, which assists these communities. The people you meet are those who will benefit from these social programs. You run for a good cause, and that is priceless ๐ซ.
So, are you ready for the adventure? ๐บ๏ธ
