Close your eyes for two seconds and imagine: you breathe in the fresh savanna air, sunglasses on your nose 🕶️, and suddenly, just a few meters away, a giraffe 🦒 gives you a funny look during your jog 🏃♂️.
Stop dreaming, this will now be possible if you pack your bags for the Kenya Wildlife Marathon 🇰🇪, in the month of May. The temperatures will be mild in Kenya during this period so leave your heavy coat in the closet along with your tank top 👕. In the heart of the mythical Great Rift Valley 🌍, sport and wild nature 🐆 will become one. Picture the wildlife documentaries? Well, you will be immersed in one of those, but in a running version. The ultimate experience 😎. Upon your arrival in Nairobi 🏙️, you'll realize you're not just there for a simple race 🏅. You're embarking on a true journey ✈️.
The first day, you will arrive in Nairobi for your welcome and lodge accommodation 🏠. The next day, you will discover the local culture and go on a safari in the giraffe sanctuary 🛖, in the Nairobi National Park, and visit the Karen Blixen museum. The following day will be your big race day 💨. You can choose between 4 distances, you lucky one: the Marathon (42 km), the Half-Marathon (21 km) 🏃♀️, the 10 km or the 5 km. Regardless of the distance you choose, each route will offer you a visual spectacle 🌄. Stay firm on your feet, don't forget! 😅 The track will weave between plains and hills ⛰️, with zebras 🦓 as your royal spectators, antelopes 🦌, and sometimes a buffalo 🦬 that might seem curious 👀. But don't worry: the rangers 👮 will ensure everything goes smoothly. Rest assured, no runner has ever been a snack for animals in the reserve. At dawn on the 4th day, you'll enjoy a safari at Lake Nakuru National Park, exceptionally beautiful especially at sunset 🌅. Finally, for the last 2 days, you'll end your adventure with an unforgettable safari in the famous Masai Mara Reserve 🌳. It’s going to be a feast for the eyes! 😍
The Kenya Wildlife Marathon will also be a meaningful race 💚. Part of the funds raised 💰 will finance educational projects 📚 and protect the local wildlife 📍. In short, running here, you won't just be thinking about your time ⏱️: you'll be part of something bigger. Your strides will resonate for future local generations 👶 and for the protection of the planet 🌱.
And after the effort, it will be time for comfort. Recovery won't be with ice packs 🧊, but with a 4x4 safari 🚙. You will see flamingos 🦩, rhinos 🦏, and maybe even a lion 🦁. As for the food 🍴, you'll taste the famous nyama choma (spicy local barbecue 🔥), snack on samosas 🥟, and savor the Kenyan coffee ☕ that will wake even the most tired legs. For souvenirs 🛍️, you can return with colorful Maasai fabrics 🎨, artisanal jewelry 💎, and wooden sculptures 🪵. Your living room has never been so stylish. So yes, you will come to run, but you will leave with so much more 💫: an immersive experience in a local culture, a unique connection with wildlife, and an extraordinary human and sporting adventure 🏆.
So, are you ready to put on your running shoes 👟 and roar in victory with the lions? 🦁
The 42 km course traverses various habitats 🌳 and a hilly landscape. You will weave through plains and forest edges, climb to high rocky outcrops 🪨 and descend into woods 🌲. The route typically includes more than 5 km of single tracks, 15 km of dirt trails and 10 km of murram roads (sand 🏜️ mixed with water 💦). The most difficult section, between km 12 and km 15, is mainly uphill ⏫. Get your legs ready! You will also cross streams 💧 and rugged trails, so keep your eyes wide open.
21 km of pure happiness where you'll climb beautiful rocky 🪨, sandy 🏜️ hills. You'll cross streams 💦, plains, and forests 🌳. All in the middle of a wildlife reserve with antelopes, zebras 🦓, and giraffes 🦒;
