Time to start in an event that perfectly proves that every meter you cover has real value, and that running has tremendous power to help 💪! “Kilometers of Help - Run in Garwolin” is a unique charity initiative that every year brings together residents of Garwolin County and runners from all over Poland for a shared, noble goal. The race format is extremely open and family-friendly – participants usually have an accessible, flat course waiting for them (most often a 5 km distance or multiples of a loop) ⏱️, which you can run, jog, or even complete by walking. One thing matters: every step you take translates into real financial support for people in need, sick children, or local care facilities.
Garwolin, picturesquely located in the eastern part of Mazovia, is known for its hospitality and an amazing, intimate atmosphere during sporting events. After crossing the finish line with a wide smile, receiving a special medal and taking souvenir photos with the crew, it’s worth spending the rest of the weekend discovering the charms of the town and its surroundings 🥇:
Unwind by the “Mamut” water reservoir – a popular recreation spot for locals, perfect for a calm, restorative walk along the water’s edge, catching your breath after the run, and relaxing close to nature 🌊.
Visit the traditional forests near Garwolin – the area around Garwolin is surrounded by beautiful, dense pine woods (part of the state forests), offering silence, peace, and excellent, clean air—ideal for calming down after the sporting emotions 🌲.
Go for a stroll through Garwolin’s atmospheric center – see the neo-Baroque Collegiate Church of the Transfiguration with its distinctive towers, which forms the architectural heart of the town and an important point on its historical map 🏰.
Drop in for a traditional Mazovian lunch – after burning hundreds of calories on the charity route, a hearty serving of homemade pierogi, a crispy pork chop with braised cabbage, or regional baked goods in one of the local restaurants will be the best well-deserved reward 🍽️.
Garwolin is very well located and connected thanks to the S17 expressway.
