Cyclo sportives, done, ultra-trails, finished, road races, a mere formality 📝... You’ve covered endurance sports and you no longer know what to take on this year? The new event Kyma, 100% seaside and marina, is going to revolutionize your summer 😎.
So, if you’re a keen observer, you’ll have noticed that the race starts at the beginning of October and not in the middle of the summer season—but this kind of format takes preparation! Kyma is your dose of Marseille challenge, where the environment will literally add its pinch of salt to your effort 😝. Sun, wind, and an overflowing good vibes atmosphere—that’s exactly what awaits you in the Bouches-du-Rhône to push your limits ✅.
As for the format, you’re about to sign up for a Fitness Race-type event, a new format that mixes strength stations and endurance sports 🔥. Each event designs its own stations and focuses its endurance portion on the sport of its choice. Here, you can opt for running or swimming 🏊. In the first case, it’s the “Kyma Run”, where you string together 8 stations and 8 laps on a seafront course 🌊. But don’t get caught out gawking at the vast expanse of water in front of you—you’re in a highly competitive format and no one will take care of snapping you out of your daze 😂. 8 kilometers of running—you don’t have time to dawdle! The second option is the “Kyma Swim”, with a total of 800 m of swimming, i.e., 100 m per lap 🔁. It’s almost a sprint, but watch your effort management—the stations will tire you out too 😅. Finally, if you’re really looking for originality in competitiveness, you can go for “Kyma Sprint”, with a challenge that will make you feel like Marseille never sleeps 🥳. So you don’t end up going to bed at dawn, the “Kyma Sprint” format is made up of 500 m laps instead of 1 km 😉.
Another distinctive feature of Kyma is above all its way of competing 👯♂️. Solo or as a duo with your favorite partner, you experience the race the way you want. And as a duo, it’s even stronger: when one of you is struggling, the other pulls them up, and vice versa 💕. Even the celebrations are classier! The only challenge you still have to overcome is figuring out who to ask to come with you 🤝. Your boyfriend, your girlfriend, your dad, or your best mate—make the right choice 👀.
Once the effort is far behind you, you can take your time and enjoy: Marseille, Cassis, La Ciotat, and the many nearby calanques have all kinds of surprises in store for you 🤩. On site, you can already extend the trip with a stroll around the Old Port, a mythical place in Marseille where you’ll find the fish market 🐟, and a whole bunch of excellent restaurants to fill your belly after a good active walk 🚶♀️. Speaking of food, our little recommendations include bluefin tuna and the famous squid of the Phocaean City. Once your belly is nice and full, take a detour to the Mucem for the photo spot 📸, or head up to Notre-Dame de la Garde to enjoy a wide-angle view of the city center. The famous basilica has watched over the town for more than 800 years, and you’ll surely be impressed by the aura it gives off 😳.
This autumn, come work wonders in Marseille, and push yourself to (ky)maximum power 💥 !
A word from the organizers, Martial & Pierre-Alexis:
"KYMA was born from a simple conviction: the best races are experienced outdoors, as a pair, facing the elements. We grew up within a community of outdoor sports enthusiasts in Marseille—between sea and hills, every week, in all weathers. KYMA is the event we dreamed of experiencing as athletes before building it as organizers. We wanted to set it in the strongest site we know: the Marseille Olympic Marina. A place that vibrated during the Paris 2024 Games, and that we’re opening for the first time to a hybrid endurance competition. The mandatory duo format is not a gimmick. It’s the heart of KYMA. We believe shared effort creates something more intense than solo performance. When your partner drops, you pull. When you drop, they pull. That’s what we want to see on the finish line. First edition. Everything is to be written. We’ll see you on 3 October 2026."
Kyma Run · 8 KM
The "Kyma Run" is run in a classic running format to test your cardio and your endurance. Pushing yourself and effort will be on the agenda 😎.
So, to recap: 8 loops of 1,000 m running, each followed by one of our 8 stations to wear you out 😮💨.
Kyma Swim · 800 m
Let’s go for a bit of swimming! 🏊 The "Kyma Swim" takes place in an open-water swim format, directly in the magnificent sheltered basin of the Olympic Marina 🌊. Gliding and a big energy burn will be on the agenda 😎. On the program, 800 m in total, split into ultra-dynamic distances.
So to recap: 8 loops of 100 m of swimming and 8 stations to wear you out as you get out of the water 😮💨.
Kyma Sprint · 4 KM
The "Kyma Sprint" takes place as a running race, with starts under the lights of the Olympic Marina. Atmosphere and effort will be there 😎. Only 4 km on the program because the loop distance to be covered is reduced to 500 m instead of 1 km for the Kyma Sprint ✌️.
So, to recap: 8 loops of 500 m running and 8 stations to wear you out 😮💨.
