That’s it, the lights are finally going out, the spectators are growing quieter, and the performers can now take the stage! 🎭 Determined to deliver their best performance 💪, the troupe of runners still feels a slight apprehension at the idea of starting the race play! 🎪 And yet this is the 16th edition of La Spinassienne, so many of them know every incline line by heart… In short, you’ve guessed it: this isn’t about theatre, but about running! And it’s the half-marathon of La Spinassienne that we’d like to tell you about! 🏃♂️
Organised in October, La Spinassienne is a race that takes place in Épinay-sur-Seine in Seine-Saint-Denis. This race is organised every year by the city. No fewer than three routes are offered: a half-marathon (21 km), a 10 km race, and a 3.8 km race. Note that several different races will also be organised for children! 🧒 And what’s more, all of the race proceeds will be donated to the charity Les Restos du cœur... What more could you ask for? 🙏
Oh yes, the course! The race will start at the Épinay-sur-Seine Municipal Sports Park (Léo Lagrange Gymnasium), a true paradise for any athlete worthy of the name, since the park boasts no fewer than 3 football pitches ⚽️, 1 athletics track renovated just a year ago with a Mondo surface 🏃♂️, 2 tennis courts 🎾… Next, you’ll run through Épinay town centre, before hitting the banks of the Seine for several kilometres. With more than two kilometres of riverbanks that have just been redeveloped between Parc des Béatus 🌳 and Boulevard Foch, Épinay-sur-Seine offers a fantastic playground for runners and exceptional natural scenery 🤩.
After the race, you can also head to the Epinay riverbanks to grab something to eat 🍿 or simply stroll by the water 😴. A village will also be set up after the race so you can relax and eat with your family 👨👩👧👦. Deckchairs, benches and tables will be installed, all made from natural materials, to help you catch your breath after the race! 💆♂️ You can also go and discover nature, as the city has recently installed educational panels so everyone can learn a little more about the fauna and flora that inhabit the riverbanks of Île-de-France 🤓.
So, are you ready to take the plunge into the Seine ? 😉
Starting from the central square of Épinay-sur-Seine 📍, you’ll complete a first short loop that will take you to the Seine riverbanks, then you’ll head back up to the main square via rue Guynemer to reach Place du Général Leclerc 🐎. The second and third loops will guide you along the Seine 🌊 and bring you back toward the starting village via rue de l'Avenir. You’ll take a detour through the city center, then you’ll cross the finish line right in the middle of the square! 🏁
For this 10 km, you will do a big loop of the half-marathon! 🤓
Races are also planned for children: a 400 metres for 4–5 year-olds, an 800 metres for 6–8 year-olds, 1 km for 9–10 year-olds and 1.5 km for 11–13 year-olds 👧.
