The event in a few words

Run all the way to the very top of Denmark! Skagen Marathon is a unique autumn race on the northernmost tip of the Jutland Peninsula. Held in October, it offers distances from the full marathon (42 km) and 30 km races, through the half marathon, to a fast 10 km and 5 km ๐Ÿƒ. The varied course combines asphalt, forest paths, and sandy dunes and beaches, leading through the charming yellow streets of the town of Skagen, heathlands, and picturesque heath-and-pine forests (Skagen Klitplantage).

After the start and picking up your medal, Skagen offers relaxing Danish vibes:

For a walk: Head to the spit of Grenen โ€“ this is where the waves of two seas meet: the Kattegat and the Skagerrak. Standing with one foot in one sea and the other in the other is a must ๐ŸŒŠ.

For families: See Den Tilsandede Kirke (the Sand-Buried Church) from the 14th century, of which only the white tower now sticks out above the sand. Also stop by Skagens Museum to see the famous paintings of artists from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries who were captivated by the local light ๐ŸŽจ.

For a trip: Drive over to Rรฅbjerg Mile โ€“ the largest migrating dune in Northern Europe, which feels like a real desert in the middle of Scandinavia ๐Ÿœ๏ธ.

On the plate: At the harbour-side fry joints, order a buttery shrimp sandwich (Stjerneskud) or baked cod with freshly caught fried herring. For dessert, try Danish pastries at a local bakery ๐ŸŸ.
