Przesieka Iceman Run 2027

Do you have a bit of a winter swimmer in you and aren’t afraid of icy challenges? Przesieka Iceman Run is a legendary winter event for runners who, instead of warm leggings, choose… swimsuits! The race takes place in Karkonosze Przesieka – the legendary Polish capital of winter bathing.

Competitors have a route of approx. 10 km to complete, running along charming yet demanding Karkonosze climbs. The biggest catch? The official outfit is only shorts (or a swimsuit for women), a hat, gloves and running shoes. Icy wind, snow and frost make it an incredible test of character and physical resilience. Przesieka is perfectly located near Jelenia Góra, from where you can easily get there by car or local transport 🚗.

After warming up at the finish line and collecting a unique trophy, it’s worth staying in the Karkonosze for longer, because Przesieka and its surroundings offer plenty of magical places perfect for a romantic weekend or a family trip:

A winter dip at Podgórna Waterfall: This is a powerful, triple waterfall 10 meters high, a mecca for Polish winter swimmers. Even if you don’t dare to step into the icy water, the sight of the frozen cascades is hugely impressive 🌊.

A walk to the mysterious Siruwia Japanese Garden: Located nearby, the highest-situated Japanese garden in Poland delights with waterfalls, meticulously kept plants and atmospheric architecture that takes on a fairy-tale character in winter ⛩️.

Conquering Chojnik Castle: Majestic ruins of a medieval stronghold rise atop a steep mountain in nearby Sobieszów. The walk to the castle is a great recovery workout, and the view of the Karkonosze from the tower is breathtaking 🏰.

A warming Karkonosze feast: After running in just shorts, you need to warm up properly. Sudeten mountain huts and inns will treat you to thick kwaśnica (sauerkraut soup), warming garlic goulash, and hot tea with a shot of spirits or honey 🍲.
