The event in a few words

Get ready to start in one of the most unique and symbolic running events in this part of Europe!

Run Without Borders (Lauf ohne Grenzen), held in the border town of Gubin (Lubusz Voivodeship) and its neighboring German Guben, is a sporting event that—literally and figuratively—connects two nations, two cities, and thousands of running passions. Forget traditional borders—here the barriers are lifted, and the only thing that matters is a shared sporting goal!

The main highlight is usually a certified, very fast and flat 10 km course, although organizers often also offer a shorter distance (e.g., 5 km) as well as races for children and youth. The route has an exceptionally interesting cross-border character—you start in Poland and, a moment later, crossing the bridge over the Lusatian Neisse, you find yourself in Germany, and then return to the Polish side. It’s an incredible feeling when, during a single run, residents of two different countries cheer you on in two languages! The flat profile is perfect for setting personal bests, and the international atmosphere gives you a huge boost for the finish.

Once you cross the finish line and volunteers hand you a commemorative Polish-German medal, the twin town of Gubin–Guben invites you to some great cross-border recovery:

Theater Island (Theaterinsel) in Gubin: The green heart of the Polish-German borderland. Located on the Lusatian Neisse, the island used to be a cultural center and is now a beautifully restored park with the ruins of a theater. It’s the perfect place to walk off the soreness and relax by the water 🌳🎭.

The Ruins of the Parish Church in Gubin: a monumental 14th-century Gothic parish church, destroyed during World War II. Today, its secured ruins form an incredible historical monument and a symbol of Polish-German reconciliation. Taking a photo with your medal against the backdrop of this massive structure is an absolute "must-have" ⛪📸.

A stroll through German Guben: After the race, it’s worth crossing to the other side of the river again—this time at a leisurely pace. Guben offers charming architecture, well-kept parks, and interesting traces of its former cloth-making industry. It’s a great opportunity for a quick international outing 🇩🇪.

Polish-German feast: the calories burned on the course are best replenished with local flavors on both sides of the border. In Gubin, a traditional Polish żurek or roasted meats await you, and after crossing the bridge you can try a classic German Bratwurst with mustard or have a traditional schnitzel, washing it down with a cold regional beer 🌭🍺.

Lake Borek and Kosarzyn: If you’re staying in the area longer after the race and craving total wilderness, head a few kilometers north to the Krzesin Landscape Park. The surrounding lakes, encircled by pine forests, are a brilliant spot for a full-on nature chillout and reset after race-day emotions 🌲🛶.

Run Without Borders in Gubin is an event with a fantastic vibe, where sport becomes a universal language of understanding. It’s excellent organization, wonderful supporters on both sides of the Neisse, and a running adventure that shows there are no barriers to passion … ✨ Cross the boundaries of your own possibilities in Gubin! 🏁🏃‍♂️
