Since you're going to Scotland, you might as well go all in! 🏴
Hold on tight, because we're offering you an epic adventure 🤪. Located in Dumfries and Galloway, in the south of Scotland, the South Scotland Outdoor Festival isn't just a Sunday outing, it's a pilgrimage for adventurers' souls 🧭. Here, we're settling in for a full weekend in June at the foot of a 17th-century castle 🏰. If you feel like you’re in an episode of Outlander, it's normal: the site was used as the set for the series 🐎. You'll find yourself at Drumlanrig Castle for an event that combines running, road cycling, and gravel riding in a festival atmosphere 🎉.
The program includes multiple events 📆. You can start with the trail races. For a warm-up, the 5 km stays nicely within the castle gardens, ideal for soaking in the estate’s air without collapsing 💨. If you want more, the 10 km heads under the canopy of private forests 🌲. But the real test piece is the 21 km: a demanding trail winding through parks and hills 🌀. You'll feel a bit like a Highlander on the run, short of breath but eyes set on the horizon ⚔️. If cycling is more your speed, the gravel routes keep you on trails, with your head down! 🚵 Whether it's the 21 km discovery course, the more serious 50 km, or the mythical 100 km, you'll delve into hidden corners and rugged paths of Scotland 🤫. It's wild, it's raw, and it's a massive slice of freedom 🚵. "And what about the road?" Don’t worry, we're getting there! 🤠 The Road Sportive offers you a loop of 62 km (480 mD+) or the bigger challenge of 112 km (1,200 mD+) 🚴. You’ll have to conquer the Mennock Pass. With its dramatic contours and taxing climb, it’s one of the country's most spectacular segments ⛰️. And for the kids, there are children's races so everyone can join in! 🤓
But don't pack your gear away too quickly: your race bib is an "All Access" pass to the event village 📍. Once the effort stops, you dive into a world of sharing 🤝. A host of activities awaits, including film screenings, debates, and inspiring stories from the likes of Mark Beaumont, the Maclean brothers, or Elise Downing 😍. In the evening, the estate transforms with the electro-folk sounds of Valtos ⚡️. You'll swap running for a wild dance session 🕺. You can camp at the festival campsite, try out the wellness activities, and let the kids loose in the Adventure Playground 🧒. We guarantee you’ll leave this place on cloud nine, almost tempted to settle in Scotland, wear a kilt, and start playing the bagpipes 😂.
Run, cycle, eat, dance, sing... what can't you do at the South Scotland Outdoor Festival? 🤪
