Get ready for one of the most atmospheric and demanding ultra runs in Poland. Spirit of the Foothills, held in the vicinity of Dubiecko, is an event that will take you into the wild and mysterious reaches of the Przemyśl–Dynów Foothills. This is not a race for everyone—it's a challenge for those who crave nature in its raw form, ankle-deep mud, and elevation gain that can break more than one tough guy ⛰️.
The race is famous for an exceptionally wide range of distances with their "demonic" names, so everyone can find their true ultra challenge—one that demands superhuman strength and the will to fight 💨.
Dubiecko and its surroundings are the heart of Podkarpacie, which after the race offers incredible peace and a few places worth visiting to rest "after a spiritual battle":
Dubiecko Castle: The birthplace of Ignacy Krasicki, the "prince of poets." Today it's a beautiful hotel and restaurant surrounded by a historic park. A perfect spot to recover in royal style 🏰.
Broduszurki Nature Reserve: Located right next to Dubiecko. It's a unique peat bog with educational boardwalks—walking here is pure magic, especially in the morning when mists drift over the marshes 🌲.
San River Gorge: In this area, the San winds picturesquely among the hills. You can take a walk along the riverbank in the village of Wybrzeże or Słonne to soothe tired legs in the cool water 🌊.
Culinary "Spirit": Podkarpacie is the kingdom of proziaki (buttermilk flatbreads baked on a metal plate) and hearty game dishes. After 100 kilometers in the forest, food like this tastes like nectar and ambrosia 🥯.
This is a race where battling yourself takes on a new meaning, and the finish line in Winnem-Podbukowina tastes like a victory over all fears … ✨ See you at the start, so we can summon the Spirit of the Foothills together! 🏁
