XRUN Mysterious Mounds 2027

Another installment of the XRUN series, this time taking runners to slightly more mysterious and wild areas of the Beskid Wyspowy – around Słopnice and the Mogielica massif. The name Mysterious Mounds is no accident; the route weaves between hills that hide old stories, and the “mounds” themselves are distinctive terrain points you have to conquer to report in at the finish line.

Unlike more “scenic” runs, Mysterious Mounds often leads through dense forests and less-traveled paths. If it rains, get ready for real trail mud that will make the fight for traction the main theme of the race. 💩👟

After solving the mystery of the Mysterious Mounds and picking up your medal, Dobczyce and the Limanowa area are great places for a “return to the world”:

View tower on Mogielica: If after the race your legs still want to cooperate, this is an absolute number one. From the new tower there is a panorama of the Tatra Mountains, Gorce and the Sącz Beskid. It’s the perfect spot for a commemorative photo with your medal. 🔭📸

Relaxing by the Słopnicki Stream: Nothing helps tired feet like cryotherapy in a cold mountain stream. Find a safe access point to the water and give your muscles a moment of relief in natural conditions. 🌊🧊

Limanowa and the Basilica: A few kilometers from Dobczyce lies Limanowa. A walk around the local market square and a visit to the monumental Basilica of Our Lady of Sorrows is a good option for a calm cooldown in an urban, yet peaceful setting. ⛪🏙️

Inns with regional food: In this region it’s worth going for some proper recovery. Sour cabbage soup with ribs or bandit-style potato pancakes are dishes that taste best in the Beskids and give you energy for the trip home. 🥘🥩
