The Beaujolais International Marathon is one of the most festive marathons in France—a 42.195 km journey through the vineyards of the Beaujolais, from Fleurie to Villefranche-sur-Saône. Find out everything you need to know about this one-of-a-kind road race and check out the results from the latest edition! 🍇
The Beaujolais marathon isn’t just a race—it’s a huge party through the vineyards! 🍷 Every year in November, when the Beaujolais nouveau arrives, runners set off from Fleurie, in the heart of one of Beaujolais’ ten crus, to reach Villefranche-sur-Saône, the capital of the wine region 🏁. The course, laid out 95% on small country roads, goes through around a dozen villages and passes several châteaux such as Corcelles, Pizay or Les Ravatys 🏰. Mostly downhill despite a few climbs along the hillsides, it features around fifteen refreshment stations, including nine tastings, where you’ll come across cured meats, cheese and glasses of Beaujolais nouveau 🧀. Here, dressing up is almost mandatory, and bands set the rhythm from the first to the last kilometer 🎺.
Over the years, it has become the biggest festive race in France, and the Beaujolais marathon now brings together more than 30,000 participants from dozens of nationalities across all events 🌍. Alongside the marathon, the organizers also offer a half-marathon, the 13 km du Rhône, relay formats, trail races on Sunday, and a Family Marathon for the youngest 👨👩👧. The grand finale is the finish at the Parc des Expositions in Villefranche-sur-Saône, where the Marathon Village and the After Marathon keep the celebration going late into the night 🎉.
The 2026 edition, the 22nd, will take place on Saturday, November 21 📅, with the marathon start given at 8:30 a.m. in Fleurie, while the trail races and the charity walk will take place on Sunday, November 22. To follow the results live, it’s right here: Marathon International du Beaujolais
