It's in this exceptional location that you'll experience an unbelievable sporting adventure. This night 🌙 marathon is a must-attend event for all road running enthusiasts and those looking for a new, unique experience in a festive 🎉 atmosphere. In the middle of October, as temperatures cool and winter approaches, we invite you to warm up 🔥 at the Bilbao Night Marathon with an extra hot vibe 😏. As the sun sets and the moon makes her debut, it's the midnight runners who will carry you through the night 😈.

Let us tell you more about your evening's agenda: for those who love partying all night, we have the marathon for you. But if big nights out aren't really your thing, how about a joyful and cheerful outing? 😁 Join the half-marathon for an explosive atmosphere 💥. More of an early bird? No worries, you can still participate in the 10 km run, which also promises plenty of surprises 🎁. The race will take you through the city's landmarks along the Rìa de Bilbao. Your nocturnal journey will reveal the illuminated beauty of Bilbao 🌃 from a new perspective. Your route will include the city's main sites and streets: Guggenheim, Euskalduna, Gran Vía, Teatro Arriaga, Old Town, City Hall, Torres Isozaki, Calatrava Bridge. Starting at the San Mamés stadium, your race will begin like a true champion! You'll make turns and pass multiple landmarks such as the Iberdrola Tower, a skyscraper standing at 165 m tall, the monument to the Sacred Heart Jesus, and the modern art museum Guggenheim.

A unique feature is that the 42 km, 21 km, and 10 km starts at the same time, immersing all runners in the celebration! 🥳 You won't be alone in the streets; this event brings together and unites the locals who come out to cheer on the participants and enjoy the numerous festivities. It's more than just a race; it's a genuine festival taking place in the city of Bilbao 😍. Spain, being a hotspot for party-goers, means the organizers have gone all out for this event, inviting you to a true sporting celebration. Even before you cross the starting line, you can catch a concert 🎤 with an incredible energy for an explosive start 🧨... And when we say explosive, we mean it... Yes! A fireworks display 🎆 will kick off before you begin your race. If this doesn't give you the best conditions, we don't know what will ‼️

In this grand Spanish city, you'll immerse yourself in the Iberian culture in an ideal setting. Cosmopolitan Bilbao also leads in innovation with its art museum Guggenheim 🎨 and remarkable architecture worth more than just a glance 👀. After exploring the historic center of Siete Calles, we recommend visiting the grand Théâtre Arriaga 🎭, the Mercado de la Ribera, or the Palacio de la Diputación. You're also not far from the beach 🏖️ for an autumnal stroll. Furthermore, the Basque cities are renowned for their delicious cuisine. We suggest trying the Bacalao pil-pil or à la Vizcaína made with cod or the Txangurro based on crab, a seafood delight 🦀.

A few more words

Ready to race through the night? 🌙 The marathon, known as the ultimate road race, is one of the most coveted events for runners. Experiencing a marathon is intense, but running it at night is simply astonishing! Let's dive into what awaits you on this unique course. Just a heads up: your route will involve quite a few back-and-forths and loops. So, you can bet you'll know Bilbao like the back of your hand by the end of the race.

This urban circuit will take you through the streets of Bilbao. You'll kick off at the esplanade of the San Mamés stadium, starting your race like a champion. Your first kilometers will lead you to Plaza Moyua. At the roundabout, you'll take the fourth exit towards the Rìa, the river that flows through Bilbao. Once you reach Deusto, one of Bilbao's eight districts, you'll make a U-turn at San Inazio and head back down Avenue Madariaga.

You'll cross the river again and veer towards the Parque Doña Casilda, skirting around the Euskalduna Palace. After following the Rìa, you'll pass the Iberdrola Tower, located in the Abandoibarra district and the Guggenheim Museum. You'll circle back towards Casco Viejo, another district of Bilbao, then head back down to the river to return to Deusto. You'll follow the same route to go back to Casco Viejo. Once in front of the Guggenheim Museum again, you'll part ways with the half-marathon runners and head back towards the Euskalduna Palace.

After completing this first loop, you'll embark on a second one! Well, you get the idea, we won't draw it out for you! 😉 Your finish line will be at the Guggenheim Museum. After that, all that's left is to rest and hit the hay 😴.

As you can see, the setting for this marathon is quite unique and unconventional 🙂.

The half-marathon is a great event to test your endurance over a relatively manageable distance 😉.

Like the marathon runners, you'll start at the esplanade of the San Mamés stadium. Your first few kilometers will take you to the Plaza Moyua. At the roundabout, remember to signal, then take the fourth exit towards the Rìa, the famous river that flows through Bilbao. You'll reach Deusto, one of Bilbao's eight districts. After that, you'll make a U-turn at San Inazio and head back down Avenue Madariaga 🏃‍♂️.

You'll cross the river again and veer towards the Parque Doña Casilda to go around the Euskalduna Palace. Following the riverbank, you will pass by the Iberdrola Tower, in the Abandoibarra district, and the Guggenheim Museum. You will head up towards Casco Viejo, another district of Bilbao, before heading back towards the river to return to the Deusto district.

Time to turn around! You'll then follow the same route back to Casco Viejo. The finish line will be at the Guggenheim Museum. That's where you'll finish your night race, with stars in your eyes! 🤩
