It’s in Nouvelle-Aquitaine, in the department of Lot-et-Garonne, more precisely in (Natasha) Saint-Pierre-de-Clairac, that the Grand Weekend Trail takes place. The sports association Pôle Sports Nature Orientation 🚩, founded in 2007, specializes in organizing orienteering races and has been diversifying for a few years now into organizing raids and therefore trail races. For this Grand Nature Weekend 🍃 (GWEN) between Agen prune and Pécou dragee from Montauban, 4 formats are offered to you. It will start with a night trail🌛 of 13.5 km on Saturday and then the same distance on Sunday, but in daylight this time. The most motivated can try the 26 km. And finally, for the most seasoned and above all trained trail runners, the ultimate CHALLENGE, which is none other than the combination of the Saturday night race (13.5 km) and the Sunday 26 km. Are you ready for this sweet escape (The Sweet Escape 🎵) in English, as a certain Gwen Stefani used to sing? 🎤
What more could we do?
Whether you take part in the night race 🌒 or the two daytime races 🌖, the weather ⛅️ in late November should be a bit chilly 🥶—yes, even in the southwest of France 🇫🇷, it happens… Temperatures not exceeding 10°C 🌡️ should welcome you for this weekend—or should I say… GREAT Weekend Trail! On the program, then: a headlamp 🔦 for the night race, elevation gain 📈, and that for all routes. Around 500 m D+ for the 13.5 km courses and 700 m D+ for the 26 km course. If you’re good at math 👨🏻🏫, you can see that this means no less than 1200 m D+ for the "Challenge" event. No map / GPX / course plan 🗺️—call it what you want—because the organizers want to keep the surprise 🎁 until the very last moment ! All we can tell you is that you’ll be running 90% on paths and trails, on rolling terrain 🎢. The scenery is open, with large meadows, vast cereal fields, and beautiful plains that will feel like a country stroll 🍄—but without the Ingalls family 🌾. Note 📝 that the 3 single distances are on the challenge 47 schedule. Founded a year after the PSNO, this challenge features 9 events spread evenly across the entire Lot-et-Garonne department. The different courses will require a lot of energy 🔋, so don’t forget to eat well before your race(s); above all, don’t come empty. If you finish in the top 3 in your category, you’ll have the chance to go home with a prize—but without Garonne. The writers over at Finishers are really tired 😴… we’re sincerely sorry for any discomfort caused 😅. Finally, because we love 💚 nature and you do too, let’s respect it! Don’t throw away paper, bar wrappers, or tubes… A few extra grams in your pocket won’t cost you 5 minutes. The organizers want to preserve a 100% eco-responsible trail spirit. ♻️
What would we discover that’s good?
Located 20 min from Saint-Pierre-de-Clairac, Agen of course: the prune, obviously… but not only. As the prefecture of the Lot-et-Garonne department, this commune has managed to preserve from its medieval past ⚔️ a significant architectural heritage, both civil and religious. A city of sport, notably thanks to the iconic SU Agen 🏉, it also hosts the races Tout Agen Court à Noël 🎅🏻 and Les Foulées du Petit Bleu, which therefore is not in Auvergne. Since we’re talking about it, on the culinary side, the region doesn’t lag behind—its star products 😎 put on quite a show. The Cancon hazelnut 🌰 accounts for nearly 98% of French production 🇫🇷. The Marmande tomato 🍅, celebrated for its taste and flavorful flesh, enjoyed as much in a salad as stuffed. The strawberry 🍓 and its Label Rouge, whether it’s the Ciflorette, juicy and sweet, the Charlotte, fragrant and tender, or the Gariguette, sweet and tangy. The white truffle harvested in summer ☀️ and so the prune as the cherry on the cake 🍰: the Agen cherry. 🙃
Everything is set for you to come and join us ! 😁
