Let's get this straight! You don't need a race to explore La Rochelle, a city so pleasant, bordered by the ocean ๐ and offering spectacular spots, no matter your interests ๐. But if you have the chance to run the La Rochelle Half Marathon in the pleasant temperatures ๐ก๏ธ of March, why not take it? ๐ Come run in this Charente-Maritime city, and you'll find your memories etched in La Rochelle! ๐ชจ Two distances are available for this event in Nouvelle-Aquitaine: a half marathon and a 5 km race! ๐ The half marathon is also available as a two-person relay ๐.
An entirely paved road course awaits you ๐ฃ๏ธ. Worried it might not be enjoyable? Think again! You'll be running in the city, and that's where the charm lies. Thanks to this tour organized by the event team, you'll discover all the notable spots of the city ๐ฝ. You'll pass by the Old Port (not the one in Marseille), cross through Charruyer Park ๐ณ, and Franck Delmas Park before heading to the Mail Alleys ๐ฉ. That's not all! You'll also have the chance to admire the Bay of Port Neuf ๐คฉ. An event noteworthy for its stunning environment and its athletic aspect ๐ : keep in mind that this half marathon holds the silver FFA label ๐ซ๐ท, while the 5 km has the bronze label ๐ฅ. This year, the La Rochelle Half Marathon is even hosting the French Firefighters' Championship ๐งโ๐.
We already know that after the race, you'll stay in the area to enjoy this city that offers a wonderful lifestyle ๐ฅฐ. In March, it might still be a bit chilly ๐ฅถ for a swim ๐๐ผโโ๏ธ, but why not take a dip anyway? ๐ For sightseeing, La Rochelle, dubbed the white city by the English ๐ฌ๐ง, is full of surprises ๐. We recommend checking out the towers of La Rochelle, visiting the Saint-Louis Cathedral, or the Bunker Museum. For a more adventurous journey, explore the surrounding villages with their typical landscapes and the Atlantic Ocean. Total escapism guaranteed! ๐ After that, relax on a terrace with a view of the harbor โด๏ธ. Treat yourself, especially by savoring some 'pavรฉs de la Rochelle' or the authentic galette charentaise! ๐
La Rochelle, it's so beautiful, especially when running through it! ๐ค
Organizer's Note:
"The La Rochelle Half Marathon is a festive sporting event that has been a part of our city for 47 years.
We offer a new fast-paced two-loop course that combines performance with a scenic tour of the city's historic gates and downtown areas. From the Port Neuf waterfront, down the Mail avenue to the Vieux Port docks and its iconic Towers. The final meters on the athletics track within the village at A.Bouffenie Stadium promise a magical and unforgettable finish.
The event welcomes 3,500 runners, including a consistent participation of 1,400 women crossing the finish line.
For the past three years, my team and I have been organizing this competition to ensure its continuity, energize it, and make it an anticipated annual event for athletes and our partners.
Don't hesitate any longer, come and join us."
