Your old PR will self-destruct over 10K 💥
Zou, lace up your shoes! In mid-October, Aix-en-Provence swaps its sunny siesta rhythm for a pace that would make pétanque players drop the jack 😤. In the heart of the Bouches-du-Rhône, Aix en Foulées turns the city of Paul Cézanne into a pure speed circuit. The cagnard has packed up and left ☀️—make way for cool mornings, often between 10 and 14°C at the start. It’s the dream climate to round off your October calendar with that time that’s been taunting you since spring ⚡. The only possible surprise guest: the mistral, capable of turning a straightaway into an interval session—on the house 🌬️.
In the crisp air, the nature park of Carcassonne holds its breath… while you’re already looking for yours 😮💨. The 10K drops off Avenue des Déportés de la Résistance Aixoise and charges toward the historic center, where blond-stone facades whiz by at full speed 🤩. Less than 100 m of elevation gain on the meter, no walls—just accelerations where your thighs will start speaking Provençal 😅. An hour earlier, the rockets of the 5K take off from Avenue des Belges for a warm-up on Cours Mirabeau, where usually you sip a coffee rather than throw elbows. At the end, the same reward for everyone: the Rotonde fountain and its three statues. Justice, Agriculture and Fine Arts will watch you cross the line, so give them a finish worthy of a painting 🎨.
Craving a thrill? A qualifier for the French Championships, the 10K turns every second gained into a potential ticket to Nationals 🎟️. Coworkers can also settle scores away from the open space, in teams of four on the 5K of the Corporate Challenge by Nissan. The day before, the Mini-Foulées turn Cours Mirabeau into a playground athletics track for the minots, with €1 per registration donated to the Le Point Rose association 💖.
Once you’ve crossed the line, the party continues 🥳. Dip your fingers into the lukewarm water of the Fontaine Moussue 💦, heir to the springs that gave birth to Aquae Sextiae more than 2,100 years ago 💧. Say hello in passing to Montagne Sainte-Victoire ⛰️, which Cézanne painted more than eighty times (a French Provençal painter). You’ll save it for your next trail 🥵. For recovery, do like the locals and bite into a calisson: almond, candied melon, royal icing. Legend has it it made Queen Jeanne de Laval smile on her wedding day to King René. After an all-out 10K, it should pull off the same feat with you! 🍬
Fada for a fast time or a lover of old stones ⏱️, there’s only one instruction this Sunday: zou—full send all the way to the Rotonde! 🏁
Meet at Avenue des Déportés de la Résistance Aixoise, on the edge of the Plaine nature in Carcassonne 🌳. The flagship event of this road race, the 10 km starts out in the greenery before heading toward the historic center, where blond-stone façades roll by to the rhythm of your stride 🏛️. The official course shows 98 mD+ and 97 mD-; no killer climb, just small urban bumps and surges to manage. A water station awaits you on the route to keep a clear head. The finish plays out opposite the Rotonde fountain ⛲. Regionally certified and a qualifier for the French Championships, it is open from the Cadets category.
A wake-up call for speed lovers, the 5 km starts from avenue des Belges, just a stone’s throw from the Rotonde🚦. From the very first straight, the scenery sets the tone: the pack takes over the Cours Mirabeau, with its plane trees and still-sleepy terraces ☕. The route then slips into the historic center of Aix-en-Provence, where the turns come one after another and demand sharp accelerations. With around fifty mD+ on the official track, the profile stays fast and runnable from start to finish 🦵. One last push toward the Rotonde fountain, where Justice awaits your sprint 🎯. Open from the Minimes category onward, this format also hosts the Companies Challenge by Nissan.
On Saturday, the Cours Mirabeau becomes the playground for kids’ races 🌟. On a 600 m loop beneath the plane trees, each age group has its challenge, from first steps to sprints by future champions:
For the Baby and Éveil groups, there is no ranking—only fun matters, and smiles are worth more than any medals 🥇. From the Poussin group onward, the top three in each category step onto the podium during the awards at 6:00 pm 🏆. Every young runner goes home with a gift, to keep the celebration going right up to dinner.
