A busy month of September and a tough back-to-school season? 📚 Head for Pornichet and treat yourself to an outdoor getaway that will clear your head 🤪.
This year, Bike & Run Family is coming to Pornichet, in the Pays de la Loire, to delight all lovers of friendly sporting moments 🎉. As a family, in a duo or in a trio, every little one can pedal with one of their idols 🚲. Held at the Pornichet Racecourse, the venue is secure and perfect for focusing fully on your pace rather than the outside environment 🏃. We’re telling you: Bike & Run Family is the perfect plan to challenge yourself without taking yourself too seriously: you run, you pedal, you cheer each other on 📢, you laugh, and you share a real adventure just a few dozen meters from the Atlantic coast 🌊.
The concept is simple: the big kid (usually dad or mom) sets off for 5 km of running, while the youngest in the family hops on their bike to cover the same distance, chaining pedal strokes 🔥. One adult + one child = the team of your dreams. The format can be done in "expert", "intermediate","discovery" or "costumed" versions. It all depends on your time goal. The target of the 5 km in under 30 minutes matches the "expert" course, for the highest-performing families 💨. The "intermediate" course is aimed at under 40 minutes, and no time limit is set for the "discovery" and "costumed" courses. Here, only the best costume will be rewarded 😎. So, aiming for competition or just wanting to have fun—your partner decides 😝. Starts for the "costumed" and "discovery" formats can also be done as a trio, made up of two adults or two children 👯♂️.
You’ve got it: the vibe is as festive as it is sporty! Plus, you’re running for a charitable cause: you treat yourself and you help others 😊. The Bike & Run Family des Étoiles program notably aims to support associations working for families, children, and youth participation in sport 💪. It could almost be called Bike, Run & Support in Family 😁.
And to extend your family weekend, stay nearby 🚶. After the race, Loire-Atlantique has plenty of surprises in store for you. To start, recover with a walk along the Plage des Libraires, to the west of town. The fine sand will let you stretch out and give your calves a rest 😴. To continue recovering, you can then head to a terrace near the Pornichet marina for an ice-cold beer, or something more typical: a Kir Breton 🍷. Be careful to drink in moderation, though—excessive alcohol consumption is dangerous for your health 😝. For the kids, an artisanal apple juice will do just fine 🍎. Once your batteries are recharged, head over to La Baule for its legendary bay, or hop to Saint-Nazaire if you want to extend the walk on the seaside 🌅.
Ready for victory and for gloire(-atlantique)? 🥸
For this event, an adult and a child team up for the duration of the race to try to hit a time under 30 minutes: a huge challenge 🤯. But no pressure either—there’s no cut-off time in place. If the goal isn’t achieved, you can still enjoy the finish-line refreshments and wrap up your event gently 😎.
Another challenge you can take on as a duo, but this time with a goal set under 40 minutes ⏱️. Medals are offered to all children who cross the finish line—it’s worth it 😝.
Here, no time goal, but a fun objective: the best costume. As a bonus, a reward will be given to the best outfit 🔥. In this format, you'll need to form a duo 👯♂️.
A route identical to all the other courses, but to be completed as a team of 3. Get dad and mom motivated and set off to conquer the best costume 🥸.
