Although Wrocław is a fantastic base, in the case of the BoryRUN race we need to head a bit beyond the city limits. This unique event takes runners straight into the wild, green heart of the Lower Silesian Forests – the largest contiguous forest complex in Central Europe, located in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship (race bases are often situated in areas such as Osiecznica, Kliczków, or the outskirts of Bolesławiec). From Wrocław you can get there comfortably by car (via the A4 motorway) in about 1.5 hours 🚗.
If you love trail running, the scent of resin, and escaping the city asphalt, this race is for you! The BoryRUN route is pure nature: soft forest floor, sandy sections, charming paths, and natural obstacles that guarantee great fun and a serious workout for your legs. Competitors typically take on distances suited to both amateurs and experienced forest runners (e.g., 42 km, 21 km, or accompanying races).
When the sporting emotions fade and a well-earned medal hangs around your neck, it would be a shame not to enjoy the charms of this extraordinary, slightly mysterious part of Lower Silesia. Here are perfect ideas for an afternoon of relaxation:
Fairytale Kliczków Castle: Located in the very heart of the Lower Silesian Forests, this mighty Neo-Renaissance castle is surrounded by a historic park. It’s the perfect place for a peaceful stroll, a coffee in the castle courtyard, or recovery in the local spa 🏰.
Shopping and workshops in Bolesławiec: You’re just a stone’s throw from the world capital of ceramics! Bolesławiec is famous for beautiful, hand-stamped pottery in its characteristic dotted patterns. It’s worth visiting the Living Museum of Ceramics, and even trying your hand at decorating pottery yourself ☕.
A walk along the Kwisa or Bóbr: These two picturesque rivers cut through the Lower Silesian Forests, creating stunning gorges. A calm walk along the riverbank, amid the rustle of trees, is a great way to quiet your body after intense physical effort 🌊.
Forest flavors for recovery: After burning hundreds of calories in the woods, it’s time for the region’s traditional cuisine. Local inns will treat you to dishes featuring forest mushrooms (brilliant porcini sauces!), filling blueberry pierogi, roasted game, or traditional Lower Silesian sour rye soup (żurek) 🍲.
Pull on shoes with good tread, breathe in the incredible scent of pine forest, and enjoy an unforgettable adventure on the BoryRUN course!
