The event in a few words

We bet you're not familiar with the charming Colombian city of Bucaramanga 🌞. And what better way to discover it than with a 21 km journey through the city, exploring its history? Come October, get ready to discover this beautiful city located north of the Eastern Cordillera, a branch of the Andes, along the banks of the Río de Oro 🏞️. Will you join us? Let's go! 🇨🇴

It's a true tradition that gets the heart of Bucaramanga beating every year 🫀. About 20 years ago, the Bucaramanga Half Marathon was born from the initiative of the Cardiovascular Foundation of Colombia (FCV). This event is an invitation to run for health and promote physical activity 🕺. What started as a small regional event quickly became a must on the Colombian sports calendar. And rightly so! With its three distances, this race attracts participants of all levels in a warm and festive atmosphere 🥳. Whether you're an amateur or a professional on the road, everyone has a place. The 5 km is the perfect distance to soak up the ambiance without overexerting 😮‍💨. Prefer a bit more of a challenge? 💪 Then the 10.5 km is for you: an intermediate, dynamic, and accessible format that lets you see a good part of the city 🏙️. And if you really want to push yourself (and Bucaramanga 👀), the half marathon welcomes you, with a route that links its iconic landmarks. Bucaramanga is often called "the city of parks", and not without reason 🌳. You start at Parque Turbay, then run through the city's green lung, San Pío Park, watched over by the famous Botero sculpture 🧑‍🎨. Next, you head to the Main Square before crossing the iconic La Novena Provincial Viaduct 🌉. This 550-meter long and 130-meter high bridge is quite impressive. If you're afraid of heights, don't worry: the bridge goes over a large green expanse, so you won't feel like you're in the air! You then continue at ease full speed to the serene Romero Park for one last breath of fresh air, before concluding your journey where it all began, at Parque Turbay. In Bucaramanga, we run with our legs, but also with our hearts ❤️. Every step counts double: one for you, another for others. Thanks to the support of the Z Zurich Foundation and the Cardiovascular Foundation of Colombia, your registration is charitable and helps finance a beautiful project: providing a home for Colombian families in great need 🫶. These are also the values of sport 🤗.

And afterward? Well, don't put away your shoes just yet ❌. Bucaramanga deserves to be explored. Enjoy the vibe, stroll from park to park like a true "Bumangués," take in the architecture of the cultural center of Oriente, and most of all... savor the local cuisine 😋. Here you'll find cabrito con pepitoria (goat with offal sauce – better than it sounds, I promise 🥴), yuca empanadas, or changua, a warm soup with poached egg 🥚, perfect for recovery after the effort. And if you're a hungry runner with a strong stomach, try the mute santandereano, a hearty stew that will leave you satisfied 🤰.
