The event in a few words

"This is not Versailles !" 💡

It’s in the heart of the Yvelines, and more precisely in Versailles, that Running at the Château de Versailles invites you to a divine event 👼. The organizers welcome you into the residence of the Sun King 🌞, the Château de Versailles, the stage for a race offering an exceptional course! Under the autumn sun of the month of October, you’ll cross the iconic gardens and stroll along the pools of the palace 🏰. So we advise you to keep your eyes wide open 👀, because a crazy route awaits you ✨. So, to bring democracy to these grounds and let your reign come to life, lace up your trainers 👟 and come challenge the promised land alongside the 18,000 other runners who will be there 💪.

Who says royal race says a tailor-made course, with two events on the program to delight Kings and Queens eager to visit this exceptional place steeped in history: the "Princesses Lashilé Beauty Race" over 8 km reserved for women (yes, French-made gallantry 🇫🇷) is the quintessential race. There’s also the sporty walk, the "Royal Walk", over 6 km open to everyone. The "Royal Race" over 15 km is also open to everyone 👑. Kids will also get their own races! 🧒 We tell you a bit more in the tab reserved for them 👇. For 16+, it’s an adult race—yep, it’s time to join the big leagues 😉.

Far from being tyrannical, the course, designed to be without any particular elevation gain, would rather fall under the nobility of road races. A special feature of the event: the route differs every year, with passages through unusual places, to uncover all the secrets the gardens hide 🤫. For example, you might set off to storm the romantic refuge of Marie Antoinette right in the middle of the Petit Trianon 😍. If you feel like it, you can run in costume, and many participants really go all in 🦸. We’re not asking for the full regalia of the monarch or the vicomte of the time ⚜️, but a little tutu or a crown on your head 🤴 matched with your running shoes will already do the trick 😬. Of course, dressing up isn’t mandatory, but two things are essential and remain among the sine qua non conditions for taking part: your smile and your good mood 😁.

Each year, no fewer than 130 companies take part in the event to share a friendly moment between colleagues 🤝. The "Corporate Challenge" means: personalized registration support ✅, preferential rates and tailor-made services (custom T-shirt in the company’s colors, event tote bag, etc.). This challenge is also an opportunity to contribute to the restoration of the Gardens of the Château de Versailles 🛠️. So, motivate your colleagues and come do your good deed for heritage! 😍

This race, held entirely within the grounds of the most famous château in France 🇫🇷 (which, for the record, was originally intended to be the hunting lodge of Louis XIII), will offer you fairytale views 🧚‍♀️ and panoramas more sumptuous than the last. Rather than ending up like Cinderella and losing your shoe 👠, we advise you to lace up well, because you’ll be running on roads, compacted paths, lawns and even cobblestones. Indeed, you’ll pass through the palace woodlands 🌳 and race down the majestic avenues of the estate, which spans more than 800 hectares in total 😱. Yes, they didn’t do things by halves back then. A little anecdote: because of the great distance separating the kitchens from the dining room, the King dined on cold food. Incredible, right 😂? Another highlight—and there will be several—you’ll discover the Grand Canal Tower as well as a majestic finale through the Trianon Gardens! 🤩

Once your effort is over, we guarantee you’ll know the palace gardens like the back of your feet hand 🤓, but you can always retrace your steps and enjoy them at a more relaxed pace 😎. You must, however, make a visit to the Château, a high place of French history, and probably one of the most famous castles in the world 🌍, which, thanks to you, will get a second youth. The revenue generated is indeed donated to renovate the Château and its estate. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site, the building has no fewer than 700 rooms and 2,513 windows 🪟—safe to say your discovery of the palace will definitely surprise you! To satisfy your appetite and fill your stomach, we recommend a Potage Saint-Germain, a regional culinary specialty made from fresh peas, accompanied by a Maurice Denis cake from the Maison Grandin. Divine treats! 😋

So come to Versailles and try to be crowned the new King or Queen of Versailles! Long live the King! 🙌

4 reasons to join this race

An aristocratic setting ⚜️
Let’s be honest without being chauvinistic: you’ll be running in one of the most iconic monuments in French history 🇫🇷. This truly exceptional place welcomes millions of visitors every year who come to admire this French marvel 😍. You’ll have the opportunity to frolic through the lush gardens and majestic fountains of the estate, with that classically styled palace in your sights 🏰.
A heritage to preserve 🏰
Your participation in the race will help restore one of the most famous monuments of French heritage 🤗. In fact, part of the registration fees will be used to bring the Château de Versailles back to its former glory: restoring statues, renovating marble benches, and planting trees to enhance the gardens 🙏.
A race for everyone 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦
No course issues here—every race is easily accessible ✌️. Flat 8 km and 15 km distances with no particular elevation gain to delight running enthusiasts and allow the fastest to set a great time 🏃‍♂️. A kids’ race for all ages is also on the program: a 400 m for ages 3 to 9 👶. A perfect reason to come as a family and enjoy a magical moment… in an equally magical place.
A wild atmosphere 🥳
Here in Versailles, we champion good vibes, joie de vivre, and friendliness 😁. The atmosphere will be crazy at the event, with runners dressed up for the occasion. Between tutus and crowns, it’s a true moment of relaxation that you’ll get to experience inside the castle.

A few more words

Just like the "Princesses' Race", the "Royal Race" also doesn’t have a designated course in the strict sense of the word, which makes this race even more mysterious and enticing 😍.

For this 15 km race, you’ll discover unique and atypical places on the estate of the Palace of Versailles, in order to uncover all the secrets hidden there. For example, you’ll get to take a ride through the magnificent gardens and the imposing fountains of the estate ⛲️. The organizers are also offering you brand-new sections through the palace’s wooded areas as well as a lap around the Grand Canal 🌳. And more surprises await you 😝.

The final strides of your race will immerse you in the Trianon Gardens for an epic finish, to the applause of the crowd who came to cheer you on! 🥳
