If the classic triathlon on smooth asphalt is not enough for you, Cross Triathlon Szczytno will take your struggles to a whole new level! This event is for those who love dust, roots, and the scent of the Masurian forest. Here, the road bike stays in the garage – wide MTB tires rule, and instead of city boulevards, technical trails around the lakes await you 🌲🚲.
The swim usually takes place in the clear waters of Lake Domowe Duże, and the cycling and running routes lead through picturesque forest wilderness that can squeeze the maximum concentration and strength out of every competitor.
Szczytno, known as the "Gateway to Masuria," has an amazing vibe that’s worth soaking in after you come off the course:
Ruins of the Teutonic Castle: This is where the action of the famous "The Teutonic Knights" by Henryk Sienkiewicz took place (this is where Jurand of Spychów was imprisoned!). Today, the ruins are beautifully revitalized and form the cultural heart of the city – an ideal spot for a post-race walk 🏰.
Pofajdoki Trail: Szczytno has its own "dwarves" – the pofajdoki, mischievous figurines referencing Masurian folklore, scattered all over town. Finding them all is a great recovery-time activity for the whole family 👺.
Masurian Museum: If you want to learn more about the region’s unique culture, the local museum (housed in the town hall building) features one of the most interesting ethnographic exhibitions in Masuria 🏛️.
Krzysztof Klenczon Monument: The legendary leader of Czerwone Gitary came from Szczytno. His monument attracts fans of good music, and in the city you can often hear his timeless hits 🎸.
Masurian flavors: After a cross effort, your body demands something substantial. Look for local spots serving kartacze or flisack cuisine. A solid dose of energy guaranteed! 🥟.
Cross Triathlon Szczytno is a challenge for people with character, who aren’t afraid to get dirty and value close contact with nature … ✨ See you on the forest singletracks in Szczytno! 🏁
