Welcome to the new running show: figures Cyprus and letters kilometers! ๐ค
The best episode of the series takes place in the month of March in the city of Pafos and is called TUI Cyprus Marathon, also known as Cyprus Marathon! ๐โโ๏ธ If you are looking for a marathon on a paradise island, you are in the right place! ๐๏ธ Plus, in March in Cyprus, temperatures range from 8ยฐC to 18ยฐC ๐ก๏ธ. Perfect to enjoy the coast โ๏ธ, but also to stretch your legs on one of the distances! ๐ฆต In fact, 5 races are offered: a marathon, a half-marathon, a road race of 10 km, a "5 km Sunset Run" and a "Wine Run" of 4 km! ๐ฃ Shores of the Mediterranean Sea, authentic villages, mountain and nature... ๐ It's a beautiful mix that will paint the backdrop of your race course ๐.
We know you're a bit curious so we'll tell you more about these famous courses starting from Pafos Castle ๐บ๏ธ... Well, almost all! The main event of the Cyprus Marathon (the marathon ๐
) is not a loop, but a point-to-point race! โก๏ธ You'll start at the birthplace of Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love and beauty ๐ฅฐ. A perfect start to fall in love with running once the race begins! Legend even says that if you swim at midnight near the cliffs of Pรฉtra Tou Romiou, you will experience eternal love! ๐ Of course, that's just a legend. Our mission is for you to sign up for the Cyprus Marathon and have the best time ever ๐. Finding true love is a bonus! ๐ Ah, you're laughing, but we'll talk again after you've tried it! ๐ช All race courses are along the coast, so you can lose yourself in the blue of their eyes of the sea ๐. We imagine you already taking deep breaths of fresh air and enjoying this smooth course to attempt setting your new PR! ๐ Beware of the 220 m elevation gain of the marathon that might sting your calves ๐ฌ. It will be much easier to shave off minutes on the half-marathon, the 10 km, and the 5 km which are out-and-back routes on flat terrain! ๐คฉ Yes, we're always trying to charm you ๐. In fact, if you see planes flying above your head, it's not a private jet coming to your rescue... No, you're just passing by one of the three airports of Cyprus ๐ฌ.
During your stay, you'll have the chance to visit some amazing places! ๐๏ธ Among our favorites are Pafos Archaeological Park, which is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the medieval castle ๐ฟ, the Agios Neophytos Monastery, and of course, the bay where Aphrodite was born! With all that, you can also enjoy the magnificent scenery offered by the beaches and blue water. At the end of your marathon, you'll only want one thing: to swim! ๐โโ๏ธ Remember to extend your trip until Tuesday to enjoy the "Wine Run" ๐. This race takes place in the village of Letymbou and offers you the opportunity to discover the Cypriot terroir by tasting the local cuisine and the wines of the country! ๐
So, are you heading to Cyprus? ๐
For the marathon, no loop but a city to city! ๐ The start of your race will be at Petra tou Romiou (the birthplace of Aphrodite) and will guide you along the coast to the finish line at the Paphos Castle! ๐ฐ
You won't be able to go wrong, it's straight ahead! โก๏ธ At km 7.5 take a good look to your right, you can see one of the ten city-kingdoms of Cyprus: Palaipafos ๐๏ธ. During your journey, you'll make a detour through a small village and get an up-close round-trip near Paphos airport! Hang in there because once you've passed the wall of 30, it's straight ahead on Poseidonos Avenue. Be careful not to be tempted by the sun loungers on the beaches below ๐๏ธ, you have a marathon to finish ๐.
Are you dreaming of setting a new record for the distance? The half of the Cyprus Marathon will be the perfect time to shine! โจ
Starting from the Paphos Castle ๐ฐ, you'll head along the seafront on Poseidonos Avenue, straight for 6 km, enough to make a blazing start! ๐ฅ At Geroskipou Beach, you'll take a left to join the airport connection road. Another 4 km of straight line awaits you! You will then do the same route in reverse, so give it your all to the finish! ๐คฉ
For this 10 km, it's straight ahead! After starting at the foot of the Paphos Castle, you will run along the seaside on Poseidonos Avenue and turn around to reach the finish line. A real course to set a new record on your list ๐.
It's a 5 km run through the streets of the city of Pafos waiting for you! The race starts at Pafos Castle ๐ฐ, before heading along the port, and passing in front of the archaeological park of Nea Paphos ! At 2.5 km north of the city, you will turn around back to the finish line! ๐
