The event in a few words

Ready to turn into a tightrope walker between two islands? 🏝️ Don't worry, you won't be like Philippe Petit between the towers of the World Trade Center in New York 🏙️. You'll be running on concrete, not a simple wire 🪡.

The Fynske Bank The 3 Bridges is not a simple race, it's a true maritime epic in the heart of Denmark 🇩🇰. The concept is simple but formidable: a half-marathon of 21.1 km that takes you off the mainland 🌾 to link three spectacular bridges between Rudkøbing and Svendborg 🌉. Forget the monotonous loops around a stadium, here we go from one city to finish in another ↔️, with the feeling of conquering the Fyn archipelago at every stride 🫡. It's a bit like The Bridge on the River Kwai, but without the colonel's mustache 🥸 and with much more comfortable running shoes! 👟

The start takes place in June, usually under beautiful Nordic light 🤩, from the Ørstedsparken in Rudkøbing, on the island of Langeland 🌳. What makes this course unique is its structure: you will literally be running on water. The route crosses the Langeland Bridge, passes through the Siø dam, flies over the Siøsund Bridge, and finishes with a flourish on the Svendborgsund Bridge before reaching the finish on the Torvet (the market square 🍅) in Svendborg. It's a fairly rolling profile 🏃 but exposed to the wind 💨, which can turn a race into a challenging course ⚔️. Indeed, the seaside has its advantages but also its disadvantages 🌊.

Pace leaders will be there to help you finish in 1h30, 1h45, 2h00, or 2h15. The start is a "mass start," with a lead vehicle regulating the pack 🚗 over the first 300 meters before releasing the pack 🦁. It's an opportunity to feel the tension rise before launching onto the asphalt 🛣️. At the finish, the city center of Svendborg comes alive to welcome the finishers 🏅, creating an atmosphere of local celebration 🎉 where effort and scenery are celebrated equally. And let us tell you that in Denmark you will be treated to panoramic views 📸.

To keep your family 🧑‍🧑‍🧒 or your legs 🦵 busy after the race, the region is full of hidden treasures 🎁. You can greet history at Valdemar’s Castle (Valdemars Slot) 🏰, which you will also see during your journey on the island of Tåsinge. If you still have energy ⚡️, a short boat trip 🛥️ in the southern Fyn arhipelago will allow you to see the bridges you've just crossed from a more relaxing angle. And for culture, the Langelandsfort museum 🏛️ offers a fascinating dive into the Cold War era, just a stone's throw from where you started 🏁.

Why cut bridges with running when you can get your bib 🎟️ and cross three of them in one of the most beautiful countries in Europe?

4 reasons to join this race

Architecture at your feet 🌁
Running over three major bridges in a single race is a rare experience in Europe. You move from sea level to breathtaking viewpoints over the straits of the Great Belt and Svendborgsund. It's the perfect time to feel like an architect, but in a cardio version 🏗️
An authentic "A to B" course 📍
Unlike loop races, here you have a real sense of travel and geographical progression. You leave one island, cross another, and finish on a third. It's rewarding to look at the horizon and say "I came from there"! 🧭
The "Guld-Startnummer" challenge 🌊
If you love collections, know that this race is part of the "Fynske Challenge". By completing the three partner races in the same year, you earn a golden bib and an additional collector's medal. Something to shine at your next dinner with fellow runners 🥇.
A historical anecdote at every km 🤩
Did you know that the Langeland Bridge, which you will cross, was inaugurated in 1962 to replace the old ferries? Running over it, you tread on a piece of history that has made the region more accessible. Isn't it a bit more inspiring than running along an industrial area? 📜

A few more words

The start is set at Ørstedsparken 🌳 in Rudkøbing. You begin with a small loop urban 🏙️ before tackling the first major segment: the Langelandsbroen 🌁. Be careful, it slopes up slightly 📈, but the view over the harbor is superb! 🤩 Then you proceed with crossing the small island of Siø 🏝️ via a dam as flat as a pancake 🥞. This is where the wind might test your nerves 💨. You then pass the Siøsund Bridge to arrive on the island of Tåsinge. You follow wooded areas 🌲 and pass near the magnificent Valdemar Castle 🏰. The finale is grandiose: crossing the Svendborgsundbroen offers you a 360° panorama of the city of Svendborg before diving into the city center to cross the finish line at the Torvet 🏁. The elevation change is light, mainly concentrated on the bridge access ramps, making it a potentially fast course if Aeolus is on your side 😉.
