The event in a few words

Are you a fondo bike enthusiast ? ๐Ÿซ

The Gran Fondo Pirineus is likely your next big sports challenge โšก๏ธ. If vacations mean suffering and magnificence to you, then congratulations, you have mastered French with finesse ๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ท. But beyond that, you're also welcome in Catalonia, in the province of Girona ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡ธ. The Gran Fondo Pirineus is not just for show. Join us at the end of June for an epic sportive adventure in 3 segments, depending on the state of your calves: the endless 144 km (3,600 mD+), the robust 122 km (2,400 mD+), or the discovery-oriented 78 km (1,400 mD+). Head to the starting line in Camprodon, a village so beautiful it feels like a movie set. But here, you won't be a mere extra; you'll be the main hero of this extraordinary action movie ๐Ÿฆธโ€โ™‚๏ธ.

The route is a bit like roller coasters, but without the safety of the rail ๐ŸŽข. And the wagon doesnโ€™t move by itself; itโ€™s the power of your legs that must propel it ๐Ÿ˜ฌ. No matter your choice, the profile is demanding, with high-altitude roads winding between peaks ๐Ÿ”๏ธ. The Coll de Santigosa, the Capsacosta peak, or the climb up to Vallter 2000 will challenge you ๐Ÿชก. The start and finish for the 122 km and 78 km courses take place in the community of Camprodon, in Spain ๐Ÿ, at the confluence of the Ter and Ritort ๐Ÿชจ. Start with your feet in the water and return there a few hours later to enjoy a gentle sangria facing the mountain ๐Ÿน. In between: sweat, elevation, and sun โ˜€๏ธ. Avoid unnecessary obstacles in your path and prepare your race with at least a minimum effort. For the 144 km, get your thighs used to pushing uphill ๐Ÿšฒ. The organizers won't be lenient ๐ŸŽ. If this first distance already intimidates you, shave off about twenty kilometers and reduce your elevation gain by 1,200 mD+. Nice advantage, no? Finally, if you want to take on your first cycling challenge but are not used to competition: try out the 78 km โœ… route. You'll cross majestic landscapes, with numerous hairpins, roads along the mountainside, and iconic passes ๐ŸŒ„. Passing through villages like Beget, or Oix, noted among the most beautiful in Spain, you'll feel like you're the postman the main actor in a swashbuckling film, with a bit more lycra ๐ŸŽฝ. And because we know what really motivates you, a Pasta Party awaits you at the finish to recharge your batteries guilt-free ๐Ÿ.

Once the bike is at rest, savor the moment ๐Ÿ˜Œ. Camprodon is also the land of cookies (the famous "Birba"), a local institution since 1893 that's worth all the energy gels in the world ๐Ÿช. If you brought your children along for the adventure to watch you pedal for 6 hours on a bike scene ๐Ÿ˜…, return the favor and take them to see the animals at Mollรณ Park or for a digestive walk along the Ter ๐Ÿป. They will be grateful, no doubt ๐Ÿ˜Ž. If you wish to discover new natural wonders, know that you'll be cycling not far from the volcanic area of Garrotxa, famous for its lunar landscapes ๐ŸŒ‹. If the region has served as a backdrop for many Spanish films, it's not for nothing ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™‚๏ธ. Between unique settings and intense sports, you can transform your individual effort into a memorable family weekend in the blink of an eye ๐Ÿซฐ.

No need to explain if you're more interested in the Pyrenean peaks or the local gastronomy, what matters is that you join us ๐Ÿซ‚.

4 reasons to join this race

A new technical t-shirt ๐ŸŽฝ
The organization is giving you a nice gift by adding a GOBIK jersey to your starting pack, so you can stand out in the photos ๐Ÿ‘•. We recommend you wear it during the event; it will make it easier to identify you at refreshment points, mechanical assistance, and other services (and you'll be reunited with your sangria and beloved river in no time โ›ฑ๏ธ).
Camprodon, simply put ๐Ÿฐ
This little town has a New Bridge dating back to the 12th century (so not quite new ๐Ÿ˜ณ). Walking through the medieval town in the early morning feels like starting a historic stage ๐Ÿ“œ. The architecture and scenery give the event a unique soul. Far from hyper-urban areas or classic industrial zones, here, every glance offers a surprise ๐Ÿ‘€. It's the perfect setting to put stress in the background and focus on the surrounding landscapes ๐ŸŒฒ.
Meticulous organization ๐Ÿง…
With numerous refreshment points, the complimentary breakfast, and top-notch mechanical assistance, you are treated like a pro ๐Ÿšด. The organization even replaces your bike in the event of a major issue, so you can complete your ride in peace โœ…. No one is left behind, and everyone ensures you have the best race possible. However, it's up to you to give your all for the performance ๐Ÿ˜‰.
The ascent of Vallter 2000 ๐Ÿ“ˆ
In "Final Destination" mode, except you don't see death, just the physical challenge ahead ๐Ÿ˜…. On the long course, you end with a climb to the Vallter 2000 station. The name says it all; you're going to climb over 2,000 mD+, where the air is thin, but the satisfaction is enhanced ๐Ÿคฉ. You'll probably wonder why you are putting yourself through this on the hill, only to realize at the top that the view is more than worth it ๐Ÿฅต. After all, we're in the Pyrenees here.

A few more words

This 144 km is a warrior's course, one that does not forgive management mistakes ๐Ÿฆ. After starting at 950 m altitude in Camprodon, you tackle the Coll de Santigosa (1 054 m) and the Coll de Capsacosta (890 m). The next section is a technical sequence through Oix and Beget that will lead you to the Port de Rocabruna (1 090 m).

The grand finale? The endless climb to Vallter 2000, where you will cross the symbolic two-kilometer altitude mark ๐Ÿ. This final straight (and steep) stretch, you'll remember for a long time ๐Ÿ’ญ.
