Are you a fondo bike enthusiast ? ๐ซ
The Gran Fondo Pirineus is likely your next big sports challenge โก๏ธ. If vacations mean suffering and magnificence to you, then congratulations, you have mastered French with finesse ๐ซ๐ท. But beyond that, you're also welcome in Catalonia, in the province of Girona ๐ช๐ธ. The Gran Fondo Pirineus is not just for show. Join us at the end of June for an epic sportive adventure in 3 segments, depending on the state of your calves: the endless 144 km (3,600 mD+), the robust 122 km (2,400 mD+), or the discovery-oriented 78 km (1,400 mD+). Head to the starting line in Camprodon, a village so beautiful it feels like a movie set. But here, you won't be a mere extra; you'll be the main hero of this extraordinary action movie ๐ฆธโโ๏ธ.
The route is a bit like roller coasters, but without the safety of the rail ๐ข. And the wagon doesnโt move by itself; itโs the power of your legs that must propel it ๐ฌ. No matter your choice, the profile is demanding, with high-altitude roads winding between peaks ๐๏ธ. The Coll de Santigosa, the Capsacosta peak, or the climb up to Vallter 2000 will challenge you ๐ชก. The start and finish for the 122 km and 78 km courses take place in the community of Camprodon, in Spain ๐, at the confluence of the Ter and Ritort ๐ชจ. Start with your feet in the water and return there a few hours later to enjoy a gentle sangria facing the mountain ๐น. In between: sweat, elevation, and sun โ๏ธ. Avoid unnecessary obstacles in your path and prepare your race with at least a minimum effort. For the 144 km, get your thighs used to pushing uphill ๐ฒ. The organizers won't be lenient ๐. If this first distance already intimidates you, shave off about twenty kilometers and reduce your elevation gain by 1,200 mD+. Nice advantage, no? Finally, if you want to take on your first cycling challenge but are not used to competition: try out the 78 km โ
route. You'll cross majestic landscapes, with numerous hairpins, roads along the mountainside, and iconic passes ๐. Passing through villages like Beget, or Oix, noted among the most beautiful in Spain, you'll feel like you're the postman the main actor in a swashbuckling film, with a bit more lycra ๐ฝ. And because we know what really motivates you, a Pasta Party awaits you at the finish to recharge your batteries guilt-free ๐.
Once the bike is at rest, savor the moment ๐. Camprodon is also the land of cookies (the famous "Birba"), a local institution since 1893 that's worth all the energy gels in the world ๐ช. If you brought your children along for the adventure to watch you pedal for 6 hours on a bike scene ๐ , return the favor and take them to see the animals at Mollรณ Park or for a digestive walk along the Ter ๐ป. They will be grateful, no doubt ๐. If you wish to discover new natural wonders, know that you'll be cycling not far from the volcanic area of Garrotxa, famous for its lunar landscapes ๐. If the region has served as a backdrop for many Spanish films, it's not for nothing ๐ โโ๏ธ. Between unique settings and intense sports, you can transform your individual effort into a memorable family weekend in the blink of an eye ๐ซฐ.
No need to explain if you're more interested in the Pyrenean peaks or the local gastronomy, what matters is that you join us ๐ซ.
This 144 km is a warrior's course, one that does not forgive management mistakes ๐ฆ. After starting at 950 m altitude in Camprodon, you tackle the Coll de Santigosa (1 054 m) and the Coll de Capsacosta (890 m). The next section is a technical sequence through Oix and Beget that will lead you to the Port de Rocabruna (1 090 m).
The grand finale? The endless climb to Vallter 2000, where you will cross the symbolic two-kilometer altitude mark ๐. This final straight (and steep) stretch, you'll remember for a long time ๐ญ.
A solid second format that avoids the last wall but keeps all the spice of the region ๐.
The start is the same for all routes, with the passes of Santigosa and Capsacosta to get your legs ready ๐ฆต. Passing through the wild areas of Oix and Beget guarantees a total change of scenery. You will then cross the Port de Rocabruna before descending directly to Camprodon ๐๏ธ.
It's an ideal choice for those who want serious elevation without ending up exhausted on the climb to the station ๐ฌ. You can enjoy the pleasure of a good refreshment at the finish, waiting for the great runners of the 144 km to return to the village ๐ .
The "GF Pirineus 78" is a true concentrate of the Pyrenees โก.
Starting from Camprodon, you immediately tackle the relief to reach the Capsacosta ๐ area. The route then takes you to discover the gems of the valley like Beget, before climbing back up through the Port de Rocabruna. It's a lively course, perfect for enjoying yourself without spending the entire day in the saddle ๐ต.
You enjoy the same grandiose landscapes and the same charged atmosphere ๐, with a quick return to enjoy the finish line beer ๐ป.
