“Yes! A new GravelMan Series race, here we are in Anjou!” 🤪
Historically, Anjou is a historical region whose capital is Angers 📍. And it’s here, in September, that you’ve got a date 📆. So head to Beaulieu-sur-Layon, in Maine-et-Loire, in the heart of Pays de la Loire 😍. So hop on your gravel bike or your road bike 🚴, tighten your helmet and take a deep breath: 60, 120, 200, 350 or 500 km await you. Whatever your level, if you love teamwork, pushing your limits, and adventure, GravelMan Series Anjou is made for you 🫵.
This event is part of the famous GravelMan Series, those cycling adventures found all across France 🇫🇷 and the world 🌍: Marrakech, Paris, Bordeaux, Lyon, St-Malo, Anjou… The organization has created ten formats through the vineyards, suited to all profiles 💪. The beginner who wants to get a taste of gravel without selling a kneecap will find what they’re looking for, just like the endurance addict ready to string together 500 klicks and 5,000 m of elevation gain (yes yes, you read that right 🥵). The 350 km with 3,500 m of elevation gain aims to be accessible but demanding 🫡. For a tough but reasonable challenge, the 200 km and its 3,000 m of elevation gain will be perfect 🤩. The last two formats are a 120 km and a 60 km, letting you enter the game without leaving an organ behind 🫁. As always, each format comes in a Gravel version (60% trails, 40% road) or a Road version (almost 100% tarmac). Then it’s up to you to choose! ↔️ We hope you’ve got an adventurer’s soul, because this race requires being prepared for anything 🫣. Aid stations are several hours apart, so you need to be able to handle a flat on your own, a nutrition issue, or a chain that slips off 🔗. After completing a GravelMan, cycling will hold no secrets for you anymore—we guarantee it 🤫.
And once the finish line is behind you, what next? Well, enjoy Angers, France’s first green city 🌱. This city is very walkable🚶. Start by visiting the Château d’Angers and its 17 towers, with its Apocalypse Tapestry 🪡. Don’t hesitate to stop by Place du Ralliement, the Grand Théâtre, the Galeries Lafayette, or the Musée des Beaux-Arts 🎨. You can also visit the charming troglodyte houses of Rochemenier 🐛. Finally, don’t leave the region without tasting the famous Loire Valley wines 🍷. After you’ve done plenty of roaming around, sit down on a terrace (if the weather allows) and enjoy the local specialties. Gouline d’Angers, plum pâté, galipettes d’Anjou, Rillauds d’Anjou, Loire pike-perch… You’re in for a treat 😋. We’re even hearing that you’ll pedal faster to get to the restaurant sooner 🤫.
