In June, head to the "Venice of the Alps" for a majestic sporting challenge. Located on the shores of Lake Annecy, the charming town of Doussard w welcomes you for its Half. Picture yourself starting this triathlon in the purest lake in Europe, the majestic Alps right in front of you 😍. With its 1.9 km of swimming, 85 km of cycling, and 21.1 km of running, this Half format offers a complete and demanding sporting adventure. Get ready to experience something breathtaking... in every sense of the word 😅.
Every year, hundreds of triathletes meet up in Doussard to take on this extraordinary challenge. Amateurs seeking to push themselves or professionals chasing records 🏆, everyone comes together in a friendly, passionate atmosphere. Whether you’re a regular on the podiums or a challenger ready to try the adventure for the first time 🎯, this race is tailor-made for those who want to outdo themselves and push their limits 💥.
The start of this triathlon is from Doussard beach 🏖️. On the program, 1.9 km of swimming awaits you in the crystal-clear waters of Lake Annecy. No fickle waves or treacherous currents—just you, the clear water 💧 and a breathtaking view of the mountains 🏔️. You then continue with 85 km of cycling. The cycling leg starts gently with a fast, rolling section—ideal to warm up the legs 🚵♂️. But don’t celebrate too soon; the serious stuff arrives with the climb of the legendary Col du Marais 🏔️. This emblematic passage of the region will put your thighs to the test with its formidable gradients 🥵. Once over the pass, it’s time for a rolling profile that tests your endurance and effort management. Finally, to top it all off, you turn around and head back along the same road: you’ll go back over the Col du Marais, facing La Tournette, then over the Col des Esserieux before descending back to Doussard 😍. A real feast for the eyes (and a nice distraction to forget the muscle pain 💥). To finish in style, you wrap up your challenge with a half marathon that winds through the surrounding countryside, overlooking the lake. Your legs will burn 🔥, but the satisfaction of crossing the finish line in such spectacular scenery is worth every bit of effort in the world 😌.
The Half du Lac d'Annecy doesn’t just offer you an exceptional race: it also takes care of its finishers with a quality mega buffet. On the menu: crusty bread 🥖, smoked salmon 🐟, farm reblochon 🧀, fresh salad 🥗, fragrant tabbouleh 🌿, organic yogurts 🥛, fresh fruit 🍎… In short, a real feast to reward your achievements 😋.
Did you give it your all in this triathlon? Congrats! Now, time to relax and explore this magnificent region 🌟. If your legs are toast, it’s the perfect moment to try paddleboarding on Lake Annecy 🏄♂️. Too sore? You can always drift along in sunbathing mode 👙, but we won’t come looking for you 🤗. Then, head to the cobblestone alleys and the picturesque canals of this "Venice of the Alps". Stroll through the old town and sample local specialties like tartiflette or a crozets gratin 🤤. If that isn’t the definition of happiness after a triathlon, we don’t know what is! 😋
So, ready to make your Doussard ? We’re waiting for you—and this time, no turning back: you’ve already stepped into the arena! 💪
Splash! 🏊♂️ It kicks off strong with the swim leg, sending you diving into the crystal-clear waters of Lake Annecy, from the beach at Doussard 🌊. The course? A lovely 1.9 km triangle. No complicated geometry here—just you and a jaw-dropping view of the Alps 🏔️. Come on, swim straight and avoid the neighbors’ flailing arms, and it should go just fine! 😅
Hop, on the bike! 🚲 Now it’s time for the serious stuff: 85 km of pure bliss (and a bit of suffering, let’s not kid ourselves). The route starts off gently, but don’t be fooled: the Col du Marais is waiting for you ⏫, and it’s not here to mess around. With its legendary gradients, it’s going to test your thighs like never before 🥵. Once at the top, savor the descent and enjoy the view, because after the U-turn, here we go again: a second climb of the pass before heading back home 🚵♂️.
And we finish in style! 🏃♂️ You ditch the bike (finally 🙏) and roll straight into a half marathon through the surrounding countryside. Two loops to explore Doussard, Arnand, Marceau Dessus and Marceau Dessous (yes, that really exists) 😅.
