In Cergy on a bike, we pass the cars 🎶
Joe Dassin predicted your next challenge: the IDF Gravel Festival Cergy 🚲. This event is a day of riding and celebration in Île-de-France 📍. In October, get your two-wheeler ready for a craaaazy journey in Cergy, near Paris🗼. Don’t worry, this adventure takes place right in the heart of nature 🌿, not on Parisian cobblestones 😮💨. So you’ll be overtaking more cows than cars 🚘.
Bike fanatics or leisurely riders, the IDF Gravel Festival is here to satisfy every appetite 🍽️. 3 Gravel distances are on the menu. If you’ve got a big appetite, you can decide to complete the 100 km route. With technical sections 📉, flat tracks and idyllic forest paths, this course will win you over 😍. You can also cut down the kilometers and go for 70 or 35 km. During your epic, you’ll ride through typical villages 🔎. All these little villages are the heart of France, with their lanes, churches and period castles 🏰. And in the end, no matter which distance you choose: you’ll ride through French heritage, chat with other participants, and push yourself in the varied, picturesque landscapes of the Val d'Oise 😍.
Once you’ve properly sobered up pedaled, set your bags down 🧳. The Île-de-France region has plenty of surprises for you 🎁. You can start by enjoying the facilities at the Cergy-Pontoise Leisure Island to relax by the water or debrief your achievements of the day 💦. Then, you can head to Paris, because you never get tired of the beauty of the City of Light 🫶. Go see the Eiffel Tower, explore the Louvre Museum, stroll through Montmartre... and overtake cars flat out on your Gravel 💨. If you’re more of a rural-escape type, you can stay around Cergy📍. If you like history, you’re in the right place! Right next door, Pontoise, awarded the Town of Art and History label, watches over the Oise from atop its Saint-Maclou Cathedral, listed as a historic monument, while the Axe Majeur imagined by sculptor Dani Karavan stretches its 3.2 km all the way to the ponds of the Leisure Island 🏰.And the gastronomy? Not to be outdone! 😋 But our favorite specialty is the Paris-Brest 🧁. Shaped like a bicycle wheel, this cake was invented in 1910 at the request of the organizer of the cycling race Paris-Brest, quite simply! 💡
So, ready to put down the watts? 🔥
The flagship event of the festival, to test your endurance and determination 💪. "The Sportive" lists 103 km on paper, for 800 mD+. With barely 8 m of elevation gain per kilometer, the profile remains generally fast and runnable: it’s the distance that will make the difference. You’ll link up forest trails, flowing sections, and village crossings, punctuated by a few well-balanced technical challenges. This demanding but accessible route is aimed at experienced riders. The finish line awaits you at the Leisure Island village, where the after-race is already in full swing 🏁.
A notch above, for those who have already had a taste of white roads 🧭. Still starting from the Leisure Island, "The Néo" takes you on 70 km and 650 mD+ through forests, farm tracks, rural villages, and forgotten trails in western Île-de-France. The route is designed to be stimulating without ever becoming punishing: a true concentrate of adventure, nature, and conviviality. This long-distance gravel format is made for an intermediate level, ideal for pushing your limits without going into the red 🦵.
Your gateway into the world of gravel 🚵. Starting from the Cergy-Pontoise Leisure Island, nestled in the heart of a loop of the Oise, "The Demo" follows a 35 km loop with only 150 mD+. On the menu: easy trails, farm tracks 🌾, a foray into the forest and a few fast, flowing sections to lift your head from the handlebars. The route has been designed so everyone can enjoy themselves, whatever their fitness level. Ideal for a first adventure in a sporty sightseeing mode, before heading back to soak up the village atmosphere 🌳.
