Les Foulées du Parc are getting ready to make the heart of Narbonne pound, and you’re invited! 🫵
Head to the Aude to experience an Indian summer and enjoy the gorgeous colors offered by this city race. The organizers offer two routes to participants: a 5 km and a 10 km, which let you discover Narbonne in a whole new light! 🌞 What’s more, the courses are FFA-certified, so there’s no risk of having to tack on an extra 1 km at the end of the route. Who knows—maybe it’s your chance to grab a ticket to the French Championships? 🇫🇷 Younger runners are also invited to join the fun with a junior-specific course. 600 m, 1,200 m, 2,000 m, 5 km or 10 km: the whole family can take part in this sunny road race! 😍
The routes are located to the east of the city, around the Parc des Sports et de l'Amitié, a major sports hub that gives the race its name. On site, you’ll see the rugby field of the Racing Club de Narbonne 🏉, long part of the French elite, and the athletics complex that includes the Carl Lewis track. But no question of "scrumming" in a new discipline—here we’re talking running and speed 🏎️. The Les Foulées du Parc course is designed to be fast 🛼, flat, and invites you to smash your time! ⏱️ 10 mD+ on the 5 km format, 20 mD + on the 10 km format, and a loop course for a double-or-nothing challenge 🔄. It’s no coincidence that the event is aiming to become one of the fastest races on the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur calendar 💨. So you can unleash your last remaining horsepower 🐎, the final 300 meters are even run on the athletics track. You’ll be able to kick and feel the crowd going wild... Pure class!
The most populous city in the department isn’t only sporty, as you’ll see, but also boasts a rich historical heritage. Narbonne was founded by the Romans, and was even for a time the capital of Gaul, before Lyon 👆. At the time, the city was a true crossroads between Spain 🇪🇸, France 🇫🇷 and Rome 🇮🇹. If the race doesn’t take you as far as the famous Pont des Marchands, you’ll have time to go there after your speedy strides! ⚡️ You can also plan a visit to the Palais des Archevêques, get lost in the charming Cité district and discover the Gothic Cathédrale Saint-Just et Saint-Pasteur, the city’s emblematic monument 👍.
So, where do we sign up for a short visit race? 😊
Runners in this 10 km will meet on Avenue Hubert Mouly, about a hundred meters from the Parc des Sports ⚽️. The race will start there. Along with the whole pack, on this course with little to no elevation gain, you’ll then head toward Avenue Pierre de Coubertin, the main thoroughfare linking to downtown Narbonne 🌆. You’ll then run through the city’s residential streets. Then a few long kilometers await you on Avenue Maître Hubert Mouly, until you catch sight of the Narbo Via museum, dedicated to the Roman history of Narbonne 📕. You’ll then head out for a second loop 🔂 before arriving in grand style on the athletics track of the stadium of honor at the Parc des Sports et de l'Amitié 🏁.
Runners in the 5 km event are entitled to a dedicated start on Avenue Jean Antagnac, 50 meters from the forecourt of the Parc des Sports 🏀. You will then head towards Avenue Pierre de Coubertin, an artery that links to the city center of Narbonne and which bears the name of a great figure in sport in France 🇫🇷. Flowers will then take center stage with Rue des Coquelicots, followed by Rue des Dahlias and Rue des Azalées. This city route will then take you to the Narbo Via museum 🤓. The finish will take place on the athletics track of the Parc des Sports main stadium 🏁.
