Head to the hills of Catalonia, where the Ter plain crumples into its first reliefs 🗻. In Mas Llunès, a small hilltop neighborhood of Bescanó, a quarter of an hour from Girona, the Masllutrail is not about the clock or the rankings: it's the neighborhood's popular walk, organized by its residents, and everyone is welcome 🇪🇸.
Two loops are on the menu, both entirely laid out on the paths and trails of the surrounding area. A 6.1 km with 111 m of positive elevation gain for a relaxed outing, to do with family or to get your legs going. A 15.7 km with 416 m of D+ for those who want to feel their thighs working, with trail sections that explain why the word trail slipped into the name. You walk, you run, you alternate: nobody will look at you sideways. If you love trails and trail running, you are exactly in the right place.
The format is disarmingly simple. Aid stations dot the course, and at the finish it's straight to the bar: sandwich, drink and coffee are included in the registration. After the races, a prize draw hands out a few prizes among the participants, just to extend the moment a little ✨.
Once the shoes are put away, the area deserves some time. Bescanó stretches along the right bank of the Ter, a stone's throw from the Ruta del Carrilet, the former railway converted into a greenway that links Olot to Girona along the river, and a few kilometers from the Crosa volcano, whose crater is the widest on the Iberian Peninsula. The town and its surroundings lend themselves well to an extra day, and Girona and its medieval old town remain within easy reach for those who prefer cobblestones to trails. Enough to turn a Sunday morning walk into a real Catalan weekend, between trail and road.
A next-gen platform helping sports enthusiasts of all levels discover territories and heritage through races tailored to them.
