The event in a few words

Head to the state of Colorado, to the mining town of Idaho Springs in the United States 🇺🇸. On the program, an absolute monument for hard-core climbers: the legendary Bob Cook Memorial hill climb, on the slopes of the majestic colossus recently renamed Mount Blue Sky (historically Mount Evans). Fair warning right away: the finish line punches through the clouds at the dizzying height of 4,306 meters in altitude, making the extreme thinning of oxygen your worst enemy!

The ribbon of asphalt hurls you into a mind-blowing journey through every alpine tier of the Rocky Mountains. Your steed will first snake through dense conifer forests and roaring streams, before breaking past the tree line to throw you into a fully exposed glacial tundra 🌲. Stay on your guard, because the crowd here is particularly wild: it’s not uncommon to have to slalom between formidable mountain goats or clumsy marmots that like to lounge on the tarmac 🐐. Adrenaline saturates the thin air in a peloton of pure climbing devotees, bringing together both fierce amateurs and razor-sharp former pros.

Keep the tiniest shred of lucidity to make it back down into the valley safely (often by shuttle) and roam this frontier land. Bring your support crew for a restorative, highly deserved soak in the steaming thermal waters of Indian Hot Springs, nestled just a stone’s throw from the start line ♨️. Also point your stomach toward a must-stop in the historic streets of Idaho Springs to devour a real "mountain pie", that hearty local honey-dough pizza, perfect for rebuilding your massive calorie deficit. Lock in your cleats, take one last deep breath of dense air, and come tame the roof of America! 💥
