The event in a few words

Get ready to start in a place where history literally lies beneath your feet! The Tarnogórski Half Marathon is a run through one of Upper Silesia’s most fascinating cities, whose underground world made it onto the UNESCO World Heritage list. The course leads along wide streets, a charming market square, and the green avenues of the Municipal Park. Although Tarnowskie Góry is associated with mines, the route profile is quite friendly for PB hunters, and the support from residents on the historic market square can squeeze a few extra watts out of your legs on the final straight! 🏃‍♂️💎⚒️

Once you’ve picked up your medal (often featuring a motif referencing mining traditions), Tarnowskie Góry will host you in a way that will make you forget about the fatigue:

The Historic Silver Mine – a must-see. If your legs need some cool air and recovery at a constant temperature (about 10°C), the underground tourist route and boat ride are the perfect way to relax. This is where you’ll feel the true vibe of the “City of Silver” without having to rack up more kilometers at race pace 🛶🔦.

The Black Trout Adit – located in the picturesque Repecki Park. A walk through the park is a great cool-down, and a visit to the adit—where you float by boat through a deep shaft—will let you fully unwind after the starting-line noise and adrenaline 🐟🌊.

The Market Square in Tarnowskie Góry – one of the most beautiful market squares in Silesia, with its distinctive arcades and town hall. After the run, it’s the perfect place to sit at a café patio, eat a well-deserved pastry, and watch the lively city go by ☕🥐.

Tarnowskie Góry Water Park – one of the first and still the best facilities of its kind in the region. The sauna zone, brine pools, and water jets are the best gift you can give your calves and quads after tackling 21 kilometers 💦sauna.

To replenish burned calories, I recommend local restaurants serving premium Silesian cuisine. A hearty beef roulade with dumplings in Tarnowskie Góry tastes outstanding, and regional beers from craft breweries will be the perfect finale to your running shift 🍺🍖.

Remember that in Tarnowskie Góry you’re running in a place that helped build Europe’s industrial might. Are you ready to mine new seams of energy on Tarnowskie Góry asphalt? 🏁
