Michalovce and the picturesque surroundings of Lake Zemplínska šírava, commonly known as the “Slovak sea”, invite you to a true sporting celebration. The Podvihorlatský Marathon is an exceptionally scenic race whose route winds around the vast body of water, offering magnificent panoramas of the densely forested volcanic Vihorlat range towering in the distance🏞️. Participants can take on the classic challenge of the royal 42.2 km distance, as well as a half marathon that’s half as long, while the gently rolling, asphalt profile provides an excellent test of running endurance🏃. For couples, a great option is a romantic walk to the ruins of the nearby Viniansky Castle, which offers a breathtaking view of the entire valley🏰.
