So, ready to kick off your running season in style? ☀️ We take you to Stockholm, in the beautiful region of Uppland, for the Premiärhalvan, the event that wakes up your legs after the winter ❄️. Okay, the name isn't the easiest to pronounce, we admit… 😵💫 For this edition scheduled in April, we offer you a unique but mythical format: a half-marathon of 21.1 km showcasing 219 m of elevation gain. It's the perfect challenge for testing yourself on an intense morning, before the big summer goals! ☀️ Don't worry, your summer body is with you all year round 😌. Anyway, this race is organized in a setting that combines wild nature and urban proximity 🇸🇪. With this, you'll fully immerse yourself in the Swedish culture. Heja, heja! ⚡️
The course is a true gem located on the island of Södra Djurgården, aka: the green lung of the Swedish capital 🌳. As for the terrain, you will mostly run on asphalt (about 65%), complemented by gravel paths (32%) and a touch of cobblestones for that historical charm (2%) 🧱. It's a true immersion experience, you'll test everything 😆. You'll pass through beautiful places, like the tip of Biskopsudden, while skirting the arms of the sea that surround the city 🌊. It's rolling, but the small hills of the Royal Urban National Park demand a good stride to not get surprised by the relief ⛰️. Yes, yes, we told you there's a total of 219 m of elevation gain, don't forget it‼️ Ahhhh, we're far from a monotonous layout; here, each turn offers a new perspective on the archipelago 💐.
To make the celebration complete, the organization relies on a team of hundreds of volunteers caring for you 💕. They are stationed at refreshment stations to provide you with water and energy drinks🥤. Additionally, the ambiance is guaranteed by musical entertainment zones and experienced pacer (pace setters) who help you achieve your time ⏱️. Whether you're aiming for 1h23 or 2h21, there will definitely be one matching your pace! ⭐️ With nearly 6,500 runners expected, the density of the pack promises ironclad motivation from the first to the last kilometer. We give it our all here, and the collective energy will directly push you towards the finish line 🤝.
To wrap it up, take advantage of your race bib to discover Stockholm from a unique angle 🫨. If you're coming with family, the Vasa museum or the Gröna Lund amusement park are just next to the route, perfect for an outing after the effort 🎡. You can also explore the island's hiking trails or get lost in the alleys of Gamla Stan 📍. The city is an exceptional playground where each neighborhood has its own identity 🤌. It's the perfect opportunity to combine a sporting challenge and a Scandinavian "City-Break" with your loved ones 🫂.
We hope your winter preparation went well, because your next appointment is here! 🗓️
A half-marathon, clear and efficient: 21.0975 km and 219 mD+! 📈 This course forms a magnificent loop around the southern part of Djurgården island, once a former royal hunting ground turned into a paradise for athletes 🏃♂️. The start and finish take place at the open area of Biskopsudden, where the sea breeze sets the tone of the outing right away 🌊.
From the first kilometers, you'll alternate between wide paved avenues and more hidden forest trails 🌳. Passing near the open-air museum of Skansen and the palace of Rosendal offers a unique historical setting that will make you forget your effort ⚡️.
The technicality lies in the frequent change of terrains: you'll switch from asphalt smooth as an apple, to gravel paths where footing is a bit more challenging 🥵. This is where the 219 mD+ really comes into play. The terrain makes you do short bursts that engage your cardio and your muscles 💪. You will also run along narrow canals where locals sail, with breathtaking views of downtown Stockholm 🌆.
The final kilometers will be quite intense, with some slight uphill stretches requiring a steel mind ‼️ But not enough to give up, the finish line gradually takes shape to validate these beautiful kilometers 🏁.
