The event in a few words

Agreed, it's not easy to pronounce 😬. The Reschenseelauf is a race nestled at the extreme north of Italy, right at the border with Austria. In July, you will run along the shores of Lake Resia, famous for its bell tower standing right in the middle of the water 🕍. Intriguing, isn't it? Let us explain! 👇

Lake Resia resembles a typical mountain lake but with a peculiarity: a long silhouette of stone emerging from its waters 🏞️. This structure is the bell tower of the village of Curon, submerged in 1950 to create a hydroelectric reservoir ⚡️. The inhabitants had to flee, the bells were removed... yet, it is said that in winter when the lake freezes and silence reigns ❄️, some still hear the ringing of the bells 🔔. Is it the wind? The ghosts of Curon? A mystery... 🫢

And while you ponder this mysterious story, embark on an unforgettable sporting adventure: a 15.1 km loop around the lake 🔄. The course, smooth and rolling, is one of the most beautiful in all of Südtirol. With each step, you progress through forests, alpine meadows, and panoramic views 🌞. You can catch sight of the majestic peaks of the Ortler and the Gran Zébrù along the way 🏔️. You will start at sunset, at 9:30 PM at the foot of the bell tower in Resia 🌄. If competition is not your thing, the Just for Fun category offers the same course but in a non-timed version. You can also complete the course in Nordic walking if you prefer to take your time and enjoy the scenery 🤗. This event gathers everyone, as the handbikers open the festivities 💃. The kids are not left out! Every year, more than 500 young champions, aged 8 to 16, set off on courses tailored to their age 💪. And surprises await them at the finish 🤫.

Once the finish line is crossed, don't leave right away ✋. Lake Resia offers much more than a legendary bell tower. Take a walk around the lake, climb the Monte Di Curon, or discover the hidden secrets of the Saint-Valentin chapel, a few kilometers away. Feeling sporty? Try kayaking, hiking, or windsurfing... This lake is a sports oasis 😍. If you're more into culture, head to the Reschen Pass and the historic Via Claudia Augusta, a remnant of ancient Rome connecting Venice to Germany. And let's not forget, Italy is also known for its cuisine 🤤. Sit down in a local restaurant and indulge: torta di patata, Burtlêina, Pisarei e fasô... You won't be disappointed! 🙃

So, are you ready to outdo your rivals at the Reschenseelauf? 💥
