"At Candlemas, deep snow and cold" 🥶
You got it, you'll need to dress warmly for this race 🧣. Torn between a weekend of pancakes in front of your favorite series 📺 or a sporting challenge for Candlemas ? 🤔 We've got something for you: The Market Gardener, in Feillens in the Ain 💪. Everything is in place to make you fall for it: a friendly race 👯♀️, homemade pancakes 🧑🍳, and supporters all along! 📢
In February, meet in Feillens, in the Ain. Organized by Bresse Saône Running, The Market Gardener returns for its 35th edition with 3 different race formats 😊. You can choose the "FLO’wer Run", consisting of 5 km, non-timed, where everyone can participate! A "FLO'wer Walk" has even been created for the bigger walkers 🚶. The big positive point (that should fully motivate you) 😍 is that the entirety of the registration donations will be donated to FLO’wer 🌸. This association provides moral, material, and financial support to people with leukemia and their loved ones 👏.
If you’re more of the competition team, we have very good news 💨. The 10 km of Feillens are labeled FFA, meaning it’s a qualifying race for the French championships, timed with a chip ⏰. With a positive elevation of 35 meters, you have no excuse not to hit your best time ever! 💥 And if 10 km is too long for you, "La BSR" will be the race marking your hour of glory! This 5 km is also qualifying for the French Championships and FFA labeled 🏆, enough to drop minutes on the clock 😏.
Attention to all the little schoolyard sprinters 👶: children can participate in the "Youth Rush" and warm up their sneakers for a 3 km race 🥵. It's a portion accessible to all children, without ranking and non-timed 🧘 (though they can take their watch if they're too competitive 😎). The youngest can start the "Mini Sprout Rush" of 1.5 km or the "Baby Sprout Rush" of 500 m. Get ready to cheer from the sidelines; the kids will need it to finish the race 😜. It’s easy to motivate them: only finishers get pancakes 🥞. Indeed! The Market Gardener is, above all, an event with a convivial and family spirit 🫶. The organization hasn’t forgotten that early February means Candlemas! 🥳 A treat of pancakes and a soup will be offered after your race to warm you up from the winter chill you braved ❄️.
If you plan a little stay, we’ve prepared some activities for you (yes, it’s a gift 🎁). Just 30 minutes away by car, you can climb to the top of the Roche de Solutré, offering an unbeatable view over the Mâconnais vineyards 🍇. We see you coming, you've smashed your record on the 10 km, and hiking is the last thing you want 😴. We have a solution (as always at Finishers 😇)! At the foot of the rock, you’ll find the Solutré Prehistory Museum, with collections from this site occupied for at least 55,000 years 🦣. If mammoths and flint stones aren’t your thing, you can visit the most powerfulabbeyof medieval Christianity, located in Cluny 🏰. Plus, you can visit it at night, by flashlight, for more thrills…🦉
We nearly forgot the main thing 😱, you need to regain strength after a race 😋. If you sign up for The Market Gardener, you must try the local specialties 📍. This region is renowned for its Bresse chickens with remarkable meat 🐓, its gaudes 🌽, its Bressane tart 🥮, and its white wines 🤭, always to be consumed in moderation (especially the night before a race 🤯).
