For its 8th edition, the Trail of the 3 Valleys is once again inviting you to Montbrun in the Lot, in the Occitania region ๐. It's often said that in April, don't shed a thread ๐งถ, but we'll make an exception for this race! ๐ Indeed, you'll enjoy ideal weather right in the middle of spring ๐ธ. Moreover, the scenery ๐ผ๏ธ will be breathtaking! ๐ Hopefully, you'll still have enough breath left to run your trail ๐ฌ. Enough joking, you'll be running very close to the Quercy Causses Regional Park! ๐คฉ This park is classified as a UNESCO Global Geopark ๐, so expect some amazing scenery ๐. The courses will take you through a preserved nature, so you're expected to take care of it ๐ค.
On the program: 2 trail courses of 20 km and 12.5 km ๐ plus a 10 km walk are offered ๐ฅพ. The Trail of the 3 Valleys is a sports event open to the masses, which is why you can choose between a long trail of 20 km and 750 mD+, quite demanding, or a short trail of 12.5 km and 400 mD+, more accessible! ๐ช The organizers even thought of hikers by offering a 10 km and 150 mD+ course ๐ถ. For the courses, the hike will let you explore the villages ๐๏ธ of Montbrun, Cadrieu, and Grรฉalou, all while going through the maximum of trails ๐ฒ. You'll cross magnificent landscapes between the plateau and the Lot valley, giving you a stunning view of the surrounding towns and their local heritage! ๐ On the 12.5 km, you'll embark on a fast course that's fairly smooth, starting with a single track path that's quite rocky ๐ชจ. Turbo charge from the start ๐ to secure a good spot in the pack ๐ . And if the course doesn't seem trail-like enough for you ๐, don't worry, a nice winding climb awaits you at the end of the course ๐ . The more kilometers you accumulate ๐ฐ, the more you'll go deep into the heart ๐งก of the 3 valleys: the Combe-Bounil, the Combe-Noire, and Combe de Capbals ๐ชจ. You'll even have the chance to discover the Larroque-Toirac plateau ๐ฐ. For the 20 km event, get ready to chain valleys, rugged descents, and other steep climbs and narrow trails through the woods ๐ชต. Although the course begins on the same path as the 12.5 km trail, it won't be as smooth ๐๏ธ. The end of the 20 km is very demanding ๐ฅต, so you'll need to brace your legs! ๐ฆตIt would be a blunder for a trail runner not to be able to rev up in the valleys ๐ซค.
But your effort will be rewarded! ๐ Whether you're first ๐ฅ or last ๐ฅ (we don't wish that upon you ๐), you'll leave with a locally brewed beer ๐บ. If you're among the best, you'll receive a bunch of asparagus from Montbrun's village farmers! ๐จโ๐พ You can't find a more local prize than in the Lot ๐. If you want to continue tasting the region's local cuisine, you can enjoy a delicious walnut tart! ๐ฅ It's the local specialty and apparently worth the trip ๐. If you're more of a salty team ๐ง, we suggest trying the Pรฉlardon or Rocamadour ๐, accompanied by a glass of local wine ๐ท from Marcillac or Cahors, for example (to be consumed in moderation). And to burn off all that, you can go for a walk on one of the many trails in the Quercy Causses Regional Park or explore ๐ฆ the area like a speleologist ๐งโโ๏ธ or even as a kayaker ๐ฃโโ๏ธ. There are many ways to explore the region ๐ฅฐ.
It seems you're in search of adventure and nature trails ๐ณ. It looks like the Trail of the 3 Valleys is just for you! ๐
Need the instructions for the 11 km walk? We'll tell you everything! ๐ค
You will tread the paths between Montbrun, Cadrieu, and Grรฉalou ๐๏ธ. You will hike through these wonderful landscapes that are among the most authentic ๐๏ธ. The route, designed by volunteers, will allow you to practically avoid taking any roads ๐ฃ๏ธ. Enough to enjoy a hiking trail with a touch of the event's trail spirit! ๐๏ธ
So grab your poles and your backpack ๐, you're off on a hike! ๐
