The time for Caipirinhas 🍸 and Feijoada is over, it's time to put on your trail shoes and spend two days in the heart of the world's most dense forest 🌲🌎.
Head north to Brazil 🇧🇷, more precisely to Manaus, in the area of Tarumã Mirim, for the Ultra Trail Amazonica, the first weekend of November. Tropical ambiance guaranteed! At the end of the dry season, temperatures can oscillate (yes, indeed!) between 26°C and 40°C 🌡️ during the day. But there's no time to sunbathe ☀️, because during an ultra-trail, you're there to run 🏃, but also to climb! All in a Non-Stop Survivor manner, meaning without rest, and self-sufficiently. Especially since this event includes several distances divided into two parts. For the more seasoned, courses of 160 km, 110 km, and 80 km will be offered with a start 🏁 on November 1 from Livramento Beach 🏝️. With elevations ranging from 2,127 m to 4,333 m for the longest route. Let me tell you, your thighs 🦵 are going to burn! 🔥
If you choose the remaining distances (8 km, 17 km, 22 km, 37 km, and 55 km), you'll start on November 2, from the same place. So if the jungle vibe doesn't thrill you for more than 100 km, you can always spend a bit less time and opt for the shorter options 🤏. Through the vines, ancient trees 🌳, and along the Rio Negro, you'll pass ranches 🌾, farms 🐔, and local indigenous communities. However, it won't be a walk in the park! Yes, indeed, a tropical forest means roots, rugged terrain, and streams. Be careful not to leave an ankle while making the slip of the century! An ultra-trail isn't a piece of cake 🍰. However, don't worry, there will be water refreshment stations every 8 to 10 km! Avoid unfiltered water, it could go wrong… 😅. For meals, rely on food checkpoints providing breakfast, lunch, and dinner! 🍽️
If you want to experience the Amazon at full throttle, now is the time! 🏎️ A 5 km race will be organized in the village 🏘️ of the Tatuyo people on October 31. But that's not all! After a small trip 🚗, you'll be able to discover their culture by attending cultural and dance performances 💃. Everything has been arranged to make the experience unforgettable ✨.
Participating in the Ultra-Trail Amazonica means you must pass through Manaus 🌆, the 7th largest city in the country. There's so much to explore in the surroundings. If you have time after your run, we encourage you to visit the splendid Teatro Amazonas (Manaus Opera House) 🎼, dating from the 19th century. You can also get some post-race relaxation at the Museu da Amazonia which will teach you more about the local fauna 🐐 and flora 🌸 that you might have missed during your adventure. Plus, it's located within the Adolpho Ducke forest reserve, immersion guaranteed! 💯 When it comes to food, there are a few must-tries: Tambaqui (a fish stew with spices, eggs, olive oil, and tucupi sauce) 🐟, Tacacá, a hot soup 🥣 made from tucupi and dried shrimp 🍤. And to finish on a sweet note: a cassava pancake 🥞 called Tapioquinha!
In the end, they'll say "mandou bem" (well done) ! 😜
