The event in a few words

"Boosted to the max, strong as rock!" 🎶

Singer Nâdiya has warned you, for the Ultra Trail of the 2 Rocks, you will have to be a true rock 🪨. Come beat your times at the beginning of July on the rugged trails of Davayé! ⏱️ Located in Saône-et-Loire, in the heart of the splendid region of Bourgogne-Franche-Comté 🌳, this 100% nature race is waiting for you! 😎 No matter your level, the event offers a range of routes that will put your endurance to the test: 11, 22, 42 or outdo yourself with 103 km 🔝. Choose your challenge and let the two rocks of Davayé witness your swift passage! ⚡️

The "T2R103" proposes a two-part route 🤝, starting from Davayé for 60 km up to Beaujeu with over 2000 mD+ and 8 ascents 💪. The return follows the same route as the 42 km trail 🦉. Let's talk about the "T2R42"! 😍 This night race starting at midnight of 1,500 mD+ crosses the vineyards of Beaujolais and Mâconnais, with a bonus sunrise for those who take it slow 🌄. Shuttles will be available to transport you to the start sites 🚌. If you want to participate in a shorter trail, there are 2 more to discover! 😍 You can push yourself on a half-marathon distance with the "T2R22" and its 900 mD+! With its 4 ascents, this route circles and climbs Roches de Solutré and Vergisson, offering stunning views 🤩. Another route, but no less significant, the "T2R11", with its 500 mD+, is suitable for beginners, or for those who want to speed things up! 💨

Don't know the two rocks? 🤔 They are peaks called Roche de Vergisson and Roche de Solutré, which are 483 m and 493 m high 😌. These two sites are very unusual and offer a 360° view over the surrounding Mâconnais! 👀 The Roche de Solutré is rich in marine fossils 🐚, with shells, mollusks, and even crinoids 🦐 found there. This earned it the museum of prehistory 🏛️, which we suggest visiting to learn more about this mysterious limestone rock, enshrined with relics of the past! 📜

And after the effort, the comfort! 😎 Enjoy your time in this magnificent region to discover the rich heritage of Saône-et-Loire 😋. Here are some ideas to treat yourself and relax after the race: A tour of the splendid vineyards: taste the famous Burgundy wines 🍷 (always drink responsibly). You'll have time to visit the Château de Brancion, a historical monument 🏰 that offers a stunning view of the region 🍇, and even stroll through the Roche de Solutré, an exceptional natural site 🤩. You can also explore the Parc des Combes, for an extra dose of adventure! 🎢

Don't miss this exceptional event, where you can both challenge yourself and discover a fantastic region in a friendly atmosphere 🏔️. So, ready to take on the two rocks? 👊

A few more words

This route will not be an out-and-back, but a true loop, from Davayé to Beaujeu and then back to Davayé 🤩. This route is done with the outward leg during the day and the return in the same format as the 42 km at night 🌌. The start is at 4:30 PM, and you have 13 hours ahead of you to arrive at Beaujeu, before making a triumphant return, where you might even cross paths with the 42 km participants. It's an opportunity to experience 2 races in one through the landscapes of Mâconnais and Beaujolais 😋. You will weave amongst the vineyards by day and by night, with a dance of headlamps as a bonus 😍.

The interesting aspect of this course is its elevation. Here, there are no big climbs or big descents; you will constantly alternate between mD+ and mD-. Except for the huge fault located at Beaujeu, where you will descend 400 meters only to climb back up a few minutes later, the positive and negative elevation changes follow each other without giving you a break. You'll find it quite demanding on your cardio, and you'll be glad you came with a bit of training 🫀.

Once you reach the cross of Rochefort, the hardest part is behind you. You have already covered more than half the kilometers, and 2/3 of the positive elevation gain. The rest is mental 🧠. As a bonus, you will find 2 aid stations filled with drinks and food along your way before reaching the finish line amidst the applause of the local crowd 👏.
