Vineyard tracks of the Mandement, banks of the Rhône and Jura trails: Geneva is a great fit for gravel, with events to join in the Vaud and Valais Alps, such as UCI The Majestics or the Portes du Soleil.
Gravel loves white roads, and the Geneva countryside is full of them. Between the vineyard tracks of the Mandement, the banks of the Rhône and the trails along the forest edges, a gravel race in the canton of Geneva always finds an alternative to the road 🚵.
The terrain mixes asphalt, gravel, farm tracks and forest trails, often within a single ride. The Rhône offers long flat stretches, perfect for warming up the legs, while the hills of the Mandement add sharp accelerations between the rows of vines 🍇. Further afield, the trails of the Jura, reachable in less than an hour, offer real climbs on dirt tracks. The season runs from April to November, with the bise wind as the only nuisance. A wide tire and the right pressure already do half the job, the rest depends on your legs. A few scouting rides on local trails are enough to choose your gearing and tire pressure before a big race, with a little practice.
The canton does not yet have any gravel events on the Finishers calendar, so you need to look at the neighbors. The gravel race calendar features the Cyclosportive Des Portes du Soleil in Champéry, in Valais, in June. In July, UCI The Majestics sets up in Villars, in the canton of Vaud 🏔️. The gravel races in Switzerland and the cyclosportives in the canton of Geneva round out the choice.
The Jet d'eau, which shoots up to 140 m high, sets the example: here, people like to rise without restraint 💦. Genevans, for their part, mostly like to ride without meeting cars, and the white roads offer them that luxury just minutes from the city 😄. Everyone will find their race according to their level and their desire to get away, from a ride with friends to a more demanding event. The roads of the Geneva countryside invite you to ride them without ever tiring of them.
A next-gen platform helping sports enthusiasts of all levels discover territories and heritage through races tailored to them.
