Salève, Jura and Lake Geneva: Geneva cyclists are spoiled for choice, with cyclosportives to join in Lausanne in May, in Champéry in June and in Verbier in August, all within two hours.
Geneva is a cycling city, where you meet cyclists at all hours along the quays and on country roads 🚴. For a cyclosportive in the canton of Geneva, the canton is an ideal starting point, with the lake on one side and the Salève and the Jura on the other.
There is no shortage of training grounds. The Salève, just across the border, offers winding roads that serve as a weight room for local cyclists. The tour of Lake Geneva, at over 170 km, is a great classic for weekend rides. The roads of the Geneva countryside, quiet and fast-rolling, let you rack up kilometers without too much traffic 🌄. The season runs from April to October, with summer heat spikes that call for an early start. Experienced cyclists often string together several climbs in the same ride, with fast descents where concentration remains essential.
For now, the major cyclosportives are held in neighboring areas. The cyclosportive calendar kicks off in May with the Cyclotour du Léman in Lausanne, on the shores of the same lake. In June, the Cyclosportive Des Portes du Soleil takes place in Champéry, in Valais. August offers Le Tour des Stations in Verbier, for steeper climbs 🏔️. Cyclosportives in Valais and cyclosportives in Switzerland round out the program. These three events are easily reached by road or by train.
Geneva, the capital of watchmaking, leaves nothing to chance: every second counts, and local cyclists also love a well-tuned time 😄. After the effort, a treat break with a nice slice of cake by the lake rewards tired legs 🍰. From your first climb to the goal of a whole season, everyone chooses their race according to their level, their training and their taste for climbing.
A next-gen platform helping sports enthusiasts of all levels discover territories and heritage through races tailored to them.
