Cyclosportives: roads between lakes and hills

Between the shores of Lake Zurich, the Pfannenstiel and the hills of the Oberland, the canton offers beautiful roads. No cyclosportive is listed there, but Lake Constance offers the Bodensee Radmarathon.

The cyclosportive in the canton of Zurich finds its natural playground between the lake, the hills and the valleys of the Oberland 🚴. Back roads wind through villages with half-timbered farmhouses, past orchards and meadows, with short but punchy bumps that put your legs to work. The Lake Zurich loop is over 100 km for anyone who wants a full day in the saddle, with clear views of the Alps on fine days.

The Pfannenstiel, a hill overlooking the right bank of the lake, acts as the ultimate test of Sunday rides. Zurich cyclists link together climbs of a few kilometers there, perfect for working on rhythm before a cyclosportive 🌄. Further west, the Albis roads offer modest passes, but steep enough to test the preparation of an entire season. Rides often start from a train station, a real advantage if you want to combine cycling and train to get home stress-free.

The Finishers calendar does not currently list any cyclosportive in the canton of Zurich, but the neighboring area offers some great events. The Bodensee Radmarathon takes place on September 11, 2027 in Thal, in the canton of St. Gallen, on the shores of Lake Constance 🍎. The event is less than two hours' drive from Zurich and offers a cross-border route through a landscape of orchards.

Zurich is also a renowned university city: the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology counted Albert Einstein among its students 🎓. After the ride, a piece of Tirggel, a honey biscuit typical of the region, will restore your energy. Choose your cyclosportive according to your level, from an introductory route to a long distance, and take a look at the cyclosportives in Zurich to complete your list of goals for the season.
